I had my tonsills removed on Oct. 24. I am now at the end of day nine. I am almost out of my pain medicine, which was only liquid Lortab. It basically just takes the edge off. I have yet to sleep through the night. I have thrown up pretty much every day since day 4. Most of the vomitting I think is due to the fact that my uvula is (still) about 3 times its normal size and is touching my tongue, yuck. I was able to eat mashed potatoes the two days after my surgery. I tried mashed potatoes and jello today and it was awful. It burned. I have been drinking lots of ice water though. It doesn't help to get the phlegm out of your throat but pop does if you can tolerate it. I think I have a small sore in my throat that is open and that is probably why it is burning. I have seen small amounts of blood in my vomit and I have resorted to spitting out my saliva whenever there is too much. Not to be gross but I have also had diarrhea for the last 4 or 5 days. I didn't "poo" for the first 4 days at all. My doctor figgured that the diarrhea was because of the antibiotic. Who knows? All in all I am sure it will be worth it. I still have one more week off work but as of right now I can't seem to stay awake for more than 3 or 4 hours, and thats without pain medicine. aaahhhh. Good luck to all who are about to get this done, at first you will regret it, as I have a few times this past week, but after its all said and done, no more tonsillitus!! And, no more snoring!
