it would be better not, because they don't heal, they just cover the symptoms up. Multuvitamins take a while to "work", because generally they're not a quick fix like most drugs. Moreover the pill sucks vitamins away so much so that, for exemple, my vitamin D levels, after one month off, were 16, when they should be above 80!

Anyhow, in this case, the only thing that does heal is TIME. I've spent months searching on the internet for remedies but the only thing that alleviated my symptoms was time.

I still have anxiety here and there and some depression lingering sometimes, but nothing as bad as it used to be. I can now live an almost normal life while until 6 months ago I couldn't go out for more than 1 hour. I couldn't be left alone at home and now I can (even thought for no longer than 2-3 hours!). It's like being a child again, but I know it takes time, and so I wait.

It is So very much difficult.in THE morning getting up with this depressed feeling from inside.in THE evening,it gets abit better.my psychologist said to me yesterday that maybe i should take anti-depressants as it Will take a long time for me to recover.she had also depression 10 years ago due to stress.she recovered after one and a half year without medicines.i am in THE end of My third month waiting for My period.there is not much change from My second to third month.

I am still doubting to take medicines. But this is So unbearable. I am a very social person.but now,i have to force myself to talk to people or laugh with people.

I'm sorry you're still feeling so bad. Like I said, I know what it's like to feel suicidal and I really think that if you're feeling this bad you should try an antidepressant. You don't have to take it forever and you don't have to take a huge dose or anything. Maybe try Prozac or Celexa.

Another thing I was wondering is do you have any other signs of hormonal imbalance?

How do you eat? Maybe you're not getting the right nutrients or absorbing your vitamins or something? Either way, consider taking probiotics or adding Kefir to your diet, as stress, depression, birth control etc; all of these things can mess with your gut flora and your gut is basically your second brain (its also responsible for absorbing vitamins and utilizing them) so you might find it helps.

ALso, do you work outside your home Hellwithbc?

Naevia, all sorts of medications and even just everyday HABITS can mess with your vitamin and mineral levels...

Vitamins should NOT take a long time to "work"--or I guess what I mean is, if you're deficient in a certain vitamin or mineral and you start supplementing it either through diet or pills, you will usually feel a difference right away but only if you're actually absorbing it. That is often the problem for most people though; they don't absorb their vitamins and minerals for all sorts of reasons.

I can tell right away when I'm supplementing with vitamin D because I supplement through a vitamin D lotion instead of a pill (this way it completely bypasses my stomach). One of the reasons I can tell it's "working" is because it resolves bad breakouts (as in acne) really fast for me. Before D I suffered horrible acne so D is like my ultimate weapon against it. I don't often use it though, as it's way too potent (something like 10,000 IU) and I find if I use it too often I start getting horrible aches, which is kinda scary but I digress...

I've always eaten really healthy and taken vitamins but it never makes much difference unless I take probiotics or drink kefir (which is basically just cheap probiotics). I always promise myself I will never forget what a big difference they make but sometimes I fall out of the habit and before you know it all the same old problems start coming back (weight accumulates around my belly and wont budge, hormonal imbalance, acne, fatigue etc). I think its because my gut flora is, and probably always will be, messed up due to years of antibiotics and accutane. Birth control can also mess up your gut flora.

Anyways, forget waiting around for the problem to correct itself and go out and get yourself some plain organic Kefir or order a vitamin d lotion of amazon (if lack of D's the only thing your suffering with). Give it a couple of days and see if it helps; you don't have much to lose by doing it.

I take kefir too. I think it does help a lot. When I said that vitamins take a while to work what I wanted to say is that you cannot expect a solutions to your problem to happen overnight, like it works with most drugs (and anti-anxiety in general). I believe, from my and other womens' experience, that it takes at least 2 weeks to replentish the vitamins the pill stole from the body.
Anyhow, I also believe that it's far better to take those vitamins through diet and not by multivitamins. I'm on a sort of paleo diet and don't take multivitamins any longer

Really?! Don't you love it? I seriously cannot get over how much I love milk kefir! I've made the water version in the past but it was always so much trouble (my city's tap water is fluoridated) but imma try making the milk version--I'm also gonna give the water version another try cause I figure I might as well if I'm going to the trouble of making the milk kind.

I dunno I feel like I can tell the difference within a day when I supplement with certain vitamins and minerals like magnesium and vitamin D--also sometimes b vitamins. Also with salmon; when I eat salmon I feel so much better the next day (i'm thinking it's the vitamins in it) but it also gives me major zits (such a conundrum). There's also the whole vegetable "glow" thing that happens when you eat lots of veggies. I remember hearing on the news years ago that there was some study on it that showed that people acquired a noticeable "glow" the day after eating a certain amount of fresh veggies or something. I think that must only happen to people who don't eat veggies regularly though cause I stopped noticing any glow years ago...

But wait, are you saying you do not take any vitamins at all? From what I've read, it's nearly impossible to get enough magnesium through diet alone no matter what you're eating, as the soil has apparently been depleted of magnesium due to decades of poor farming practices. I take a multi (also take magnesium and I love it more than kefir). My multi has all kinds of useless c**p in it that I probably don't need but I'd rather take it then obsess about getting every little thing through diet alone--and I would definitely obsess... I figure the stress of trying would be worse for me in my case.

Well, I stopped taking mutivutamins about 2 months ago after 9 months during which I used to take everything: magnesium, mutivitamins, omega 3, probiotics, vitaminc C, vitamin D e so on. Now I only take magnesium when I remember (2-3 times a week.I know, it's difficult to get the right amount of it solely through diet) and omega 3 when I realize that I've ingested too much of omega 6, which is often the case with a paleo diet because it's not easy at all to find some grass fed meat here. And as far as vitamin D in concerned, now that it's spring, I take it through the sun, and believe, I DO feel the difference! The pill depleted my vitamin D levels so much that when I got tested (1 month after I stopped it) they were at 16, when they it should be around 80 for optimal health! And as for the multivitamins...I don't know, they're still something artificial and man-made... I know that they helped me a lot when I first quit the pill, but my dream would be to get all the vitamins through diet: organ meat is very rich in this sense.

I'm not eating due to depression and nervousness. How long does loss of appetite have to go on before it gets dangerously unhealthy?
