My baby has started to throw up and cry few weeks ago. There was no obvious reason but we thought that it is normal in an infant. But it continues to appearing so we went to a doctor and found out that our girl has reflux. She was prescribed with prevacid, but it has past a wee now and the condition is still the same. How long does it take for prevacid to start working in an infant with reflux?

She is crying probably because of very strong colicky pain. Now, I am aware that some parents do expect for this medicine to start work immediately, within two hours or five hours, doesn't matter. But, I need to tell you that it takes longer, and when I say "long" I mean LOOONGGGG time before this medicine starts to work. For example, I know people who had issues with their kids and they were giving a Prevacid to them as well and they told me that it takes more than two or three weeks before it starts to work. I know that this is a long time, but that is sometimes the only option - to wait.

I had a reflux and it is not a thing I like to remember. I was taking prevacid also. I can say that doctor told me that it can start working even after three weeks. It has started to work and I felled relief after two weeks. But also I think that prevacid stop acid to go up and damage your baby's tissue.

it works within the first 2-4 weeks. My baby girl (8mos) cant live without it. we are having trouble with insurance covering it so we're pretty upset. its ungodly expensive. but if your baby has reflux it works wonderfully.
