I took part in a debate the other day. Some of the participants claimed that you cannot be good runner unless you have at least 10 years or so of experience. You can’t achieve top results either if you are a novice. How many years of running experience you have?

That is not true. I have seen some young athletes winning the races and leaving some veterans in the dust. More experienced athlete has greater chance to distribute his energy and endurance more precisely over the race and consequently place higher. But if you are not a total beginner you can make up for the lack of experience soon. On the other hand younger athletes tend to have more power and stamina.
