a person goes four days w/out running (runs on the 5th day) after having been training pretty hard for about 2 months, how much of a setback can he/she expect?
I am, of course, asking for a friend.

Not much really. Maybe a little tight that's all, make sure your friend stretches real well.

And tell your friend to really enjoy that first run back on the road, trail, wherever......after four days off, they deserve to not stress about "training" and just be happy they're able to run again.

They should only experience some stiffness and a little soreness. Have them take it easy getting back into it. I went through 2 phases of that right after my marathon last month.

Probably no set back. In fact, it may be an excellent chance for the body to heal itself from the pounding on running. Don't be surprised that after you've shaken the cobwebs on the first mile that the next few miles don't come quick and easy.

I'm sure you...uh...your friend will be ok. Just get back into it. If your following a training schedule, just repeat the week you missed.

Well, I had resolved to take 4 full days off because I was feeling run down. However, the monkey on my back was biting my ear. I went ahead out, but told myself I was going for an hour, no more, and I stuck to it. It was good. Easy. I feel pretty great, even with hardly any sleep last night.
Thanks for your help, friends. :D
