I'm getting ready to re-wallpaper a bathroom in my house, and in the process, want to take off the standard "flat" mirror put in by the builder that seems to be permanently affixed to the wall.

Obviously, I'd prefer to remove it without shattering the mirror or taking a large part of the drywall with it. Any suggestions?

leave the mirror in place. :P They probably liquid nailed it to the wall. I would say good luch as far as getting that stuff off.

If there isn't any visible means of it being attached then what RB said.

Put a nice oak fame around the mirror.

I agree that it will be difficult to remove to the point of possibly breaking it....the only good way to "cut" silicone, double faced tape or liquid nails is to get a "baker's knife" and sharpen the edges......then you can basically saw the glue/silicone out
addtionally a hacksaw blade (not attached to the saw of course) can cut away the adhesive..

Are you sure it doesn't have little clamps at the top and bottom? I thought mine was permanently attached until I saw the clamps at the top and bottom The top ones were spring loaded so I just pried them up and I was good to go.

It does. When unscrewed, however, the mirror stays affixed. :? Good thing the clamps were there in case the permabond failed, no?

Then I guess you are screwed! :-)
Actually I am not sure how you are going to get the mirror of the wall without causing damage to something.

Perhaps you should hire your relative who needs the "legal" help. That way you can pay him to break the mirror. It sounds to me like his luck is already bad, what's another 7 years! :P

You need to get bitten by a vampire, that way you won't need a pesky mirror anymore.
