I'm a new runner, and into the 2nd week I got what I'm pretty sure is Runners Knee.I purchased a pair of those Mueller Knee straps, to see if they work, but I'm a little confused how to use them. Should they be snug, or tight, or does it matter? Also, the thick gel part should be right under the kneecap, correct? This newbie says thanks very much!

I recently started using a strap. I just tighten it enough until my knee feels supported and I can walk around in it comfortably. I noticed a reduction in pain as soon as I put it on.

It seems like the strap has helped in my recovery but I've also taken the time to rest and I have been icing the bad knee every night after work and after every run whether it hurts or not.
