Male 53 . I am a chicken and dont think I would have gone through my surgery on Tuesday if I had read this first. My external hem thrombosed early this week - grape size. I went to the doctor on Tuesday and he said the best thing to do was to remove the clot. The numbing shot would hurt but the rest would be straight forward. The shot REALLY hurt. It took about 10 minutes and I was on my way with instructions to take tylenol but should be back to normal in a couple of days. I am a cyclist so the thought of not riding for a couple of days was a big deal.
Numbing started to wear off on the drive home which was worrying as the burning started. We had dinner plans with some friends and I didn't want to cancel so ended up having to sit on one cheek on a hard chair at the restaurant for a couple of hours.
I took three tylenol but didn't get a great sleep - for some reason started to have a bit of a cough which was painful.
Day 2 was able to walk around though not totally comfortably - doing errands and alike. Removed my packing, showered, and BM - not comfortable but nothing like others here are experiencing.
Day 3 and I found this site this morning because I am trying to figure out if I am healing correctly. My hem feels as big or bigger now than before the surgery - is that normal?
maybe I just expecting too quick a recovery based on my doctor's saying this would be resolved quickly.
I had wanted to be back on the bike by now but instead am going to call the doc and see if I am on track.
good luck to all of you.
