hey there,
I have been diagnosed with enlarged turbinates and after trying everything in the book (almost) i have been scheduled in for a turbinoplasty on Tuesday 26th August 2008.
I am petrified to say the least... not so much about the actual surgery but more about afterwards and feeling unable to breathe at all through my nose for the first week or so and also the packing if they need to do that.
can anyone give me any advice or tips on how to get through that.
although my nose is always blocked and has been for years, i can get relief from the addictive decongestant sprays which i know i will not be able to use after surgery!!!!

I was an Afrin addict for the past 30 years; my Dr told me that, no, my nose wouldn't fall off, but that I'd probably have a stroke at some point because of it. So get off it asap.
I had the surgery, which was a breeze. My nose bled for only a day or two, and then I was just as stuffy as always. The Dr had warned me of this, but told me to continue with the Afrin for a short time.
Then, one day, I didn't need it anymore. In just two weeks, I was transformed. No more snoring, no more getting so stuffed-up in the evening that I'd want to scream. Life is beautiful.
If you're questioning it, don't; just do it!

tinamoss, How many days after surgery could you breathe? I had coblation turbinate reduction seven days ago and still can't breathe. Well, I could a tiny bit during the day but not much and I'm totally stuffed up at night. Since I can't use Afrin I dread going to bed tongiht again. Another sleepless night breathing out of my mouth.

Hi.. I know this is a old post but I hope you can still answer my question. Did you get the in office procedure done or the actually surgery? I'm scheduled for the in office, but I'm worried about the numbing and how long after the procedure it will last. its been over a year for you now, how are you feeling?
