Hi.

Experiencing excessive sweating at night, along with inflamed glands in your neck, can indeed be concerning and frustrating. This condition, known as night sweats, can have various causes. It's important to consider a few key points:

  1. Infections: Certain infections, especially those that affect the lymph nodes and glands in the neck, can cause night sweats. Tuberculosis and HIV are examples of infections associated with night sweats, but there are many others.

  2. Hormonal Imbalances: Hormonal changes or imbalances, such as those occurring during menopause or due to thyroid problems, can lead to night sweats.

  3. Medications: Some medications can cause night sweats as a side effect. This includes certain psychiatric medications, hormone therapy drugs, and others.

  4. Lymph Node Inflammation: Inflammation of the lymph nodes (lymphadenopathy) can be due to infections, autoimmune diseases, or, in some cases, more serious conditions like lymphoma or other cancers.

  5. Other Medical Conditions: Conditions such as hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), diabetes, and various forms of cancer can manifest with night sweats.

  6. Lifestyle Factors: Factors like stress, diet, and your sleep environment can contribute to or exacerbate night sweats.

Treatment will depend on the diagnosis. For instance, infections may require antibiotics, hormonal imbalances might be managed with hormone therapy, and lifestyle modifications can be advised in cases where they're contributing to the problem.

In the meantime, maintaining a cool, comfortable sleep environment, using moisture-wicking bedding and sleepwear, and staying well-hydrated can help manage the symptoms.
