If you still like the idea, start feeling out your mom's opinion. Watch some modelling shows with her and make little comments like, "That looks like fun." "I bet I could do that." "I wonder how someone gets started doing that?"
Her reaction and answers will give you a clue as to how open she is to the idea. If you really want to do it eventually get around to telling her "I would like to give that a try. Would you support me in it?"
