I'm 47 years old and my period won't stop - 4 wks. now!

I am right there with you! This sucks, but I have heard some women do this, some don't. If you heard anything else please let me know.

Im 41 and going thru alot of stress. Hopefully that is all the problem is because I too have no health insurance or money to go have it checked out. I do have cramps too, does anyone else?

I am 24years old and I have been one period for the last 8weeks with no sign of it stoping! I take the Depo shot for birth control start that at age 16 and that was in hopes to regulate my period but has never worked! Doctors never can figure out what is wrong and it becomes very annoying! Any ideas!?

I am 48 years old and my period has not stopped yet. last year i did not have one for 3 months and now getting them monthly except last one has not stopped. I am so tired of having one. Awaiting for my pelvic ultrasound  to come back. If everything is ok, then i will ask my doctor for a D&C, better than harmone therapy. So i guess ladies its happening to all of us.

luckily i have health insurance this time, but it's been going now for 3 weeks. My appointment is thursday. I really dont want to have a hysterectomy but after this i think i would rather just get it over with.

I just turned 48 in January. Had my gallbladder out December 26th. Went almost two months without a period and then boom. It started and hasn't stopped. I am under a lot of stress but I have been under stress my whole life. (My primary doctor mentioned stress). I need to make an appointment at the OBGYN but can't until I stop bleeding. I am so happy to see I am not alone, but sorry for all of us. I am drained, no energy etc... I thought it was menopause but the doctor told me today my period will slow down during menopause, not speed up.

I had that problem when I was 41 and doc gave me iron pills and I think she told me to take Advil or Motrin for a few days (doubling up) - it stopped and said this was normal and it would happen again. Well here I am almost 44 and it's happening again! It's been over 10 days with non stop bleeding, extremely bad - I have been trying to use progesterone cream like I had in the past (after the first episode), but it's not working. Started taking Iron pills again and Advil. It stopped for 1/2 day then came back. I honestly cannot deal with this. Women shouldn't have to go through it for any reason whatsoever. Someone suggested taking Estroven - might look into that as well.

 

I had this happen in my early thirties and was terrified b/c I thought I was going to have to get a hysterectomy or have an ablation done and wouldn't be able to have kids. After four weeks of extremely heavy bleeding I went to the local women's clinic and was put on a double dose of BCPs daily. Long story short, the bleeding stopped within a week and five years later I had a baby with no reproductive assistance at all. But the earlier experience was terrifying. I'm posting right now b/c I just got my period after being two weeks late and was convinced I was looking at another month from hell. I'm sure my earlier episode was due to a couple of things: a lot of stress following my mother's death and gaining about twenty pounds in the space of a couple of months. Both of these events threw my hormones completely out of whack. I didn't have a regular period again for six months after the crazy bleeding stopped, but once it kicked in I was right back in my same old pattern. Exercise really helped once I got some energy back and I've been told that losing as little as ten pounds (which I could stand to do these days) can make a big difference.

You need to see a doctor, your symptoms are not normal at all. you probably have a fibroid tumor. That can cause all your symptoms.

Hi there. Me too first time ever !! I have just turned 47 and this is my 10th day solid. Started weirdly slo and now is heavier!I WANT TO TELL you what I have read on another site ... it said that it could have to do with Progesterone. One lady on this other site said it was because her levels became so low she kept bleeding. Only when her doctor found this out and gave her low dosage progestrone did it stop. Mind you that is only if it keeps going and going. She said sometimes it works itself out on its own. BUT if it doesnt to get to your gunecologist and let them check your progesterone and once it stops (the bleeding) to have them do another pap test to make sure its clear also check your bladdar to make sure all is normal!!

I will make a doc appt if this continues for another 3 days. Thats the promise I made myself.

Dont listen to any doctor who says its okay!!!

hey eveyone.im emma.age 45 .my periods have been messing around for the last 2 years.missed a couple of months then in jan bled for 5 weeks .went to er was given dicynone 500 stopped.4 months all ok .last month was late for period 12 days then started to bleed ,now going on 27 days non stop.i feel so alone n afraid .have no support system out here (in gulf).so glad to have come across other women suffering as i am.god bless n protect all of you n ease our pain n tension.am not able to get macca out here.:$was told to try banana powder in warm milk.

Hi i'm 37 year olds, got one kid and been used birth control before but i did stop about 2-3 years agoes, never have problem with my periods, until this month i got my period for 3 weeks now and non stop, it's keep bleeding become 4 weeks now, what should i do, i think to go to the doctor on this monday, cos weekend i must work. i hope just cos my stress not other sickness :( i'm worry.

Blood clots is a bad sign anyway and the doctor told me if I had blood clots there would have to be surgery, there is no way around it. I thank God that when my tests came back there was no sign of blood clots. I don't know what they can give you to reduce or get rid of those blood clots but they did tell me you can die from it. So I am praying for you!!!
