Hello everybody!

So i am on birth control and have been for two years. My husband and I NEVER have protected sex since I have been on the pill for so long. When it was time for my period, I was a day late and then spotted for two days and then it totally disappeared which is not normal for me (I usually have a five day period or more.0 I have taken four pregnancy tests and all of them are negative. But I keep having indigestion, a burning feeling in my lower stomach, very gassy, constipated, and have been burping today which is not normal for me. I have been experiencing the lower stomach burning and constipation for five days now and I am getting off and on feelings like cramping today. I am also bloated and am uncomfortable when I button my pants for the first time today. My period is not due for another two weeks, so I know I am not about to start my period. Please help me figure out what might be going on. Thanks you guys :)

Did you take the pregnancy test in the morning with your first urine of the day after waking up? The symptoms you described are also associated with stress, pre-period, and ovualtion. Have you been under any stress lately like work, financially, really any kind of stress? Stress also can cause your period to change in length, color, heaviness, odor, etc. Have you had sex when you were ovulating? You ovulate around two weeks after the first day of your menstrual cycle.

Thank you for responding to me! I didn't take any of the tests in the morning except for one and it wasn't my first urine. I haven't experienced any stress lately except for wondering if I am pregnant or not. I have had sex during the two weeks after the first day of my menstrual cycle. Is that ok?

You are not using the home pregnancy test correctly. You will need to take them in the morning with your first urine of the day. When you sleep at night the hcg hormone will build up in your pee so when you test in the morning the home pregnancy test can read accurately. The time frame you had sex was when you were ovulating which increases your chance of pregnancy. Sometimes stress from wondering if your pregnant or not will cause your period to change and even give you pregnancy like symptoms. I suggest taking another pregnancies test using your first urine of the day. If it is negative and you are still having symptoms you may want to see your doctor and have then run a blood pregnancy test and check to make sure everything is okay and that it may just be stress causing it.

Your Welcome. Most people don't know about the first morning urine because its in usually small print at the bottom of the instructions so its super easy to overlook. I had an awesome ob/gyn that told me about the hcg levels and how to take the test correctly or I wouldn't know about it. Tell your doctor all your symptoms and write them down because its easy to forget one or two when listing whats going on. Write down the dates of last period sex ect to help her make the decision if its too soon for a blood test or not. Good Luck tomorrow :-) Hope you get the outcome you want

Heather, I went to the Dr today initially to get a birth control refill for the year. They didn't give me a blood pregnancy test but made me pee in a cup instead (which I thought was very strange)... I also had already peed twice that morning so I know from what you said and from other health articles, that it wasn't going to be accurate since it definitely wasn't my first pee of the morning. They had me in and out of there so fast that I didn't have a chance to tell them what my body has been doing either with my symptoms I have told you about. The Dr told me that it was very odd that my period was off but to call him in two weeks if I miss my period or if I still have spotting. Do you think I should hold off on having a drink until I expect to get my period? I don't want to hurt my baby if I am pregnant. He just basically told me to call him if I miss my period or if it happens again what happed to me on my last cycle. I am still confused though, he was only with me for maybe 5 minutes.. I understand doctors are very busy but I am still nervous since he didn't give me hard information to go off of. What do you think? Should I hold off on drinking and vigorous exercise? Thank you again for helping me Heather, you have been such a blessing at this time for me. Thanks again, -J. L.

Thanks for the update. I suggest going to another doctor whom will give you the time you deserve. Busy or not your paying for your appointment and he/she should have enough respect to give you the time needed. Keep track of everything going on with your body and semi take his advice. Wait for your next scheduled period and if it doesn't come make another appointment with another doctor. It depends on what kind of drinking you are planning on doing. If you have a glass of wine with dinner one night you will be okay but try to avoid getting drunk and drinking more than one. Try to avoid vigorous exercising but moderate exercising is more than fine. Also when doctors take a urine sample people think they use a better pregnancy test that is more accurate etc but in reality they just buy regular ones in bulk and take a few drops of your urine and drop on it so its the same as doing the home ones. Keep me posted :-)
