I am very confused about my PCOS. I was first diagnosed when I was 14. I'm 19 now. I've only been on birthcontrol for it and nothing else. I just recently decieded to really get started on getting help for it from an endo. I went to see her and she doesn't prescribe me anything else for it. Why am I not on any other medication for this? I was under the impression that there are other things that can be taken. Is it normal for doctors to only prescribe birth control for PCOS patients? I just need to now whether or not to trust my doctor in this decision or keeping trying with a new one. I would appreciate any response. Thank you.

Hi. I'am 34 years old and last year I found out that I had pcos and I found out that it was insulin resistent. that make my blood sugar high. don't know what the cause of yours but my ob/gyn gave me a rx for Metformin 500mg a day and provera because I don't have a period. so the next time that you go to the doctor ask her what cause your pcos and tell her that it's a few tests that can check for the reason and then she should be able to better medicate you. I know that the metformine has really help me my blood sugars are down and normal now and i lost 18 pound and I have a period every month the cyst are still on my ovaries but everything is going good just ask about the reason for the pcos and ask about the test. I will look to see exactly what test I was given and I will post you back. :-)
