You know, I'm pretty sure it's not a matter of "respecting that rule". Some of us get so sick and dehydrated that the baby is at risk of death and our other children's safety is at risk because we are unable to watch and care for them like we need to. So, sometimes the risk of some sort of medication is worth the risk. Having said that, I checked with my doctor's office and was told they don't recommend emetrol during pregnancy. If I were you, I would check with a doctor about the risks before taking anything.

I had such severe morning sickness, Emetrol eventually stopped working.  I ended up dehydrated and had to be given fluids at the hospital.  They prescribed Zofran, an anti-emetic.  I would not have been able to get through that pregnancy without Zofran.  My daughter is healthy and fine, so neither the Emetrol or the Zofran had an impact on her development.

I spoke with three different doc's and Emetrol is safe to use and recommended if you have nausea during 1st trimester.  They say to use 1/2 dose which is 1 table spoon when needed, but not more than 4 in and hour.  I use Emetrol and I'm 7 weeks pregnant.  It helps alot.   I also use ginger gum (sold at CVS or Walgreens).  It is a naturals way to aid nausea.  good luck and hope you feel better.

I have hyperemis (idk how to spell it) and I am taking zofran (prescribed) and emetrol. Emetrol seems to work the fastest for me and it's over the counter so that's nice!

Zofran causes cleft palettes. My sister took it her whole pregnancy, not knowing this and her daughter was born with a cleft lip. Be careful.

My doctor recommend emetrol, but I wanted to try the natural route. After 2 weeks of hysterical break downs and a trip to the ER because I couldn't even keep water down, I asked all of my friends for help before I took zofran. I had already tried ginger in every form, preggy pops, bland foods, literally everything. Once again emetrol was suggest. My boyfriend ran out, and an hour later, I was a whole new person. 24 hours later, I have had slight bits of nausea, however, I can function again. I couldn't even get off the couch without throwing up, and now I'm cooking and fully functional. I can not say enough good things about it. I even took the store brand, so something in it works miracles.

I used Emetrol my last pregnancy and it helps a lot. I still felt qweezy but it helped a lot. Where I could function. I plan on using it this pregnacy too. It's super sugary!! So prepare for that taste. But it helps.

I hate when people respond like this to a basic question... When its clear the person answering the question hasn't even done any research. Emetrol is glucose, fructose, and phosphoric acid which is in things you eat and drink on a daily basis.. I have taken this in early pregnancy and doctors recommend this as one of the healthiest nausea medicines to take. Have you had a baby or been pregnant before? The nausea associated can be debilitating... So much so that it can keep you from getting out of bed or moving around and some people don't have the luxury of laying around all day especially when you need to provide for your soon to be born child. Do research before you respond to questions because you're just making someone feel bad for absolutely no reason and you are just posting your opinion if you don't know the facts behind your answer. Grow up. And stop answering questions you don't know ANYTHING about.

Yeah well that's a load of crock. If vomiting is so persistent that you cannot keep food fluid down you need to take medication because constant vomiting/low blood sugar is very dangerous for baby.
