I have to say that I am very doubtful when it comes to medications that are supposedly natural, with no heavy chemicals. Especially now, when I am in a third month of pregnancy. I have been having problems with cold and coughing and have heard that vicks vaporub is not dangerous and that it might help. Is it ok to use this drug during pregnancy?

Vics vaporub is a medication that has natural aromatic decongestants that help with both catarrh, coughing, sore throat etc. It has eucalyptus, menthol and camphor in its structure, so we could say that it is somewhat less dangerous than other meds. Still, you are right to avoid medications during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, because of the fact that drugs in that period could harm fetus drastically.

Hello there,

In my opinion you shouldn’t be taking anything during your pregnancy. There is so little evidence about the harmful effects of the medications during pregnancy because most of the pregnant ladies avoid everything that could harm their child. So the information which are provided to us are usually very short and there are no big studies about this.

If you have caught a cold try with natural remedies which will help you in no time. Chicken soup is absolutely the best way to help yourself when it comes to the cold. Tea with lemon and honey is going to deal with that sore throat, and of course increase the intake of vitamins. I hope that you will feel better soon.
