I have had thrush since just after christmas last year. I have been swabbed three separate times, confirming candida (have not been told what species) but no other infections and have had a blood test done which was "borderline for thyroid" (I'm assuming underactive thyroid because my mum has this?). I've even taken a pregnancy test just to rule it out!
I have been given pessaries, capsules and am currently using miconazole cream for 10 days and I'm still itchy as hell! I'm also getting little clumps of blood (mostly red/pink) with the discharge. Is that normal? I am on the pill (microgynon 30) and my withdrawal bleed was also very clumpy this month though wasn't previously. I have read that the pill can give people thrush but my GP thought this was unlikely in my case because I have been on it for three years and not had any thrush in that time..?
I do have a partner but we don't have sex anymore (sorry, I don't understand how you could want to with this horrible condition?!), he has no symptoms but treated himself anyway.
I have tried putting plain live yogurt "down there" which made no difference, just a big mess. I have started eating it every day anyway, cut out all sugars apart from fruit now and again and I don't touch white refined carbs. I've never washed down there with anything other than water and have never douched. I only wear 100% cotton loose pyjama pants which I wash at 60 degrees with special tablets I bought for people with allergies just in case it was my washing powder that irritated me.
I am really depressed about it, my sex life is ruined and I don't even feel I can go out anymore because I'm too itchy! The few times I have to go out, I wear cotton trousers and underwear and when I get back there's so much discharge that I just want to cry.
What else can I do?! Help!
