I don't know why you would say it is odd, read benzobuddies this happens a lot, it is not a matter of IF but WHEN. Tolerance happens as you take the pill which is why at certain points doctor will want to raise it. (what happens when it just stops working? Hell breaks loose) Just because someone takes it say for 10 years same dose, does not mean the bottom can't fall out, I am proof of that along with others. you should search for info on long term klonopin use for truth, unless you are in denial like most who get mad at the messenger. There is a reason why all those people are suffering trying to get themselves off this pill.
I was told to switch from Ativan to Klonopin - just on a doctor's whim. I had used Ativan for years. Well, it seemed good for about the first week but then I started experiencing symptoms which were THE OPPOSITE of what you take the pill for (I was anxious, sleep poor, vivid dreams, mood swings up to suicidal urge and constant rages....). - I think that's call "paradoxical" reaction - something like that. (Happens with a lot of psych drugs.) I stopped it immediately via another doctor and went back to Ativan. Still, I seem to be "working it out of my system", and the hair loss! Knotting and long strands just drifting off....baldness at the front and back...It is a nightmare. But, it is easing up, even though again, unlike you - sadly - I only took it a couple weeks. Read about it. This drug has caused spontaneous suicidal/homicidal ideation, cardiac arrests, the whole kit. It should NOT be on the market! But the docs hand it out like candy. I recommend VANART Conditioner, which I order online from Amazon. It's really like what used to be sold as "creme rinse". That old-fashioned, wonderful pink "stuff". I add a little water to it as I use it cause it is thick, but after you lightly - shampoo your hair (only do hair-care if NECESSARY - go two weeks or more if you can...) rinse the light amt of shampoo out of it out and goo this on, gently massage your scalp with it, and use - always, lukewarm water to do so. DON'T COMB OUT WHEN WET! Let it dry naturally and then style with as little spray, etc. or nothing unless you need to. This will leave your hair soft and less likely to shred off. - It will at least help you weather the storm until your hair recovers itself. Be patient!!! I pray for anyone who takes klonopin. It is a killer.
I have been taking this drug on and off for about 8 year's. The last 4 year's daily. I had been taking more, but had decreased it to 1, and 1/2 mgs. a day. I had run out, and the half life is such that for 4 day's I had no withdrawal, then on the 5th day, All the side effects hit, and I decided to be done with it, and checked myself into a crisis center, so it wouldn't take so long to rid my system of it. However after doing this, the side effects continue. I have noticed a huge difference in my hair. I have very thick naturally curly hair, and it is still curly on the right side where I sleep, but the left, and back don't stay curly anymore, and I hate that. So, I have researched this very hard, and found that other's have lost there hair as well. I have been told by professional's as I am as well, that even after 6 months this could be going on, I hope so, but now I am at the being off for 7 week's, and I still feel crapy, and the hair difficulty's remain. I am going to advise you to increase your B vitamin's expecially your Biotin. It is the most important of them all.
I relied below down one. I wanted to also say my daughter who is a stylist said she had noticed my hair changing where it has. I want to say for you who have noticed this right away, I have not until the last 3, and 1/2 years, and I thought it was the water. I tired changing that, and it made no difference. I hate what this medicine has done to my whole system. It is a hidden agenda monster that affects every organ almost, and no one knows that unless you research. I am a huge researcher of medicine, I am a RN for 33 year's, and love to do this. So, if I find out anything else I will inform you, but I think beside's the vitamin's, this is a wait it out thing to return to normal growth of hair.
Been using it off and in or years for muscle spasms. About 4 months ago began losing my hair. A friend told me about taking biotin, the vitamin. Stopped the hair loss within the first 10 days. ...10,000 mcg per day.
Klonopin IS a nightmare to come off of. There are many symptoms that come along with withdrawal. Hair loss is one of the lovely things that can occur on this medication. From what I've read, the hair does come back for most. It just takes awhile.
I noticed everyone's talking about hair loss. I have been on clonazepam for approximately eight years. I used to have straight blonde hair and all of the sudden my hair started Turning Brown and his extremely curly. I started researching my symptoms changing color changing texture and now thinning hair when I listed all those online the first drugs that came up with clonazepam. I am in the process at getting with my psychiatrist to back me off the drug I don't even feel like myself anymore I don't even look like myself. The article said that once you stop taking the drug the reversal is almost immediate I want my blonde straight hair back and I want my thick hair back. My family all have thick thick hair even into their eighties. I wondered a long time what was causing these changes and when I finally put my symptoms in and it came up clonazepam I realized right then and there I want off of it. Please wish me luck.
Mine started falling out 4 months ago I tried cutting it. Changed hair products etc. still shedding bad. I see my Dr next week. I can see my scalp now!!!!!
I've been taking it for years and couldn't figure out why I was losing my hair. I've had my thyroid tested several times and the report come back normal. It must be this drug.
I have been talking Klonazapam regularly for anxiety. I have hair coming out like crazy and every time I have my hair professionally dyed, black roots show up at my crown line above my forehead. I use expensive shampoo and conditioner. OMG. I don't know what to do.
Yes I believe I have had some hair loss/damage due to this drug. That said the drug has been a life saver for me. My husband was diagnosed with stage 4 very aggressive cancer. We have 3 young children. Watching him dies was horrible. I started throwing up all the time one day it was every hour for 4 hrs in a row. I was not able to take care of him or the kids until I went on Klonopin. Now that he has passed I am looking at getting my self healthy. I can take 10mg of melatonin to counter act the sleep issue but I had bad a acid reflux before my husband was sick and it comes back when I go off it. It does not make me feel high but does help me not to be so intense with my kids. Not fully off of it yet but it was a drug that I needed badly so despite side affects I am thankful for it.
I have been on klonipin, 1mg for about 9 months. Have started tapering myself off- now taking 1/2 3 days and then a whole of one. Hoping to work myself down to 1/2 for a month and then work down to 1/4. Anyway- I have all of the sudden noticed extreme hair loss-I can just pull about a handful out almost whenever I run my hands through my hair. Unsettleing--hoping this will clear up as I continue to taper
Stress causes hair loss. I was on Ativan for years and have suffered severe hair loss. I just switched to Klonopin .The thing is you need to reduce stress. Eat healthy and exercise. Practice yoga or meditation. Have your hormones and thyroid checked.
