I'm 22 years old and my knees are constantly hurting. I have little flexability and if they're bent for longer than 2 seconds they start hurting really bad. When I was a freshman in high school, they were swollen and hurt really bad. The doctor said I had Osgood Slaughters disease, but that it would go away with time. The symptoms have yet to go away. What could be causing this?

I am 20 and Ive been dealing with the same problem since I was about 14. The pain was too much at times I could not even walk. I did a little research but there is not too much out there to help with it.. mostly seems like you just have to tough it out. Stretching is brought up a lot from what I have found along with icing/resting it a ton. I played Football, Basketball and Track and pretty much blew off what my doctor told me. Now I have a protruding lump below my knee and hurts every once in a while but not to the extent of when I was younger.
So far from all the posts I have seen from other people, the symptoms seem to stick with you for a while if it was not rested and taken care of earlier when diagnosed. Some say if you buy a knee band/brace it relieves some to most of the pain.
PS: A lot of doctors do not seem to know much about this either so maybe trying a physiotherapist could help.
