have you ever thought that she is allowing someone to suck on her nipples for great periods of times several times a day, it can be done and you don't have to be pregnant. I've heard of a gal in her 30s in GA that is breastfeeding one adult and two teenagers serveral times a day and even the teenage girl is now nursing her brother and two adults. so it can be done.

I've been having the same problem and I am definately not pregnant.  I went to the GP as I have dieted and exercised regularly since January and I have only gained much more weight. I do have an under active thyroid but the blood test results showed I am taking the correct dosage of thyroxine. The GP asked me if I was pregnant, which I'm not. When I mentioned the lactation to her, the GP told me that lactation when not pregnant is completely normal.  Then told me my BMI should be much lower than it is. So I'm still none the wiser really.

that doesnt explain why someone would start lactating with out reason. i have just statred lactating and i dont know why, i havent had any regular nipple stimulation. i have no idea why this is going on, and it scared the hell out of me. please help...

The stimulation need not be intentional epidermal touching such as with finger tips, tongue or lips. Mental stimulation with normal brushing of nipples against the inside of brassiers can induce lactation. Of course it may be embarrasing, but you should not be scared. If it really bothers you, try avoiding sexual thoughts or remove focus on some one you find attractive. Wear a bra one size larger etc.

it can be thyrod or cancer or diabites.

I'v e been to the doctor before, and my prolactin levels were normal and i still lactate. I do not have mastitis, or am I pregnant. My tests are ALL normal. My hormones are normal etc, etc. So it doesn't only depend on prolactin levels. Just wanted to add to it.

My sister was lactating when she was not pregnant. It turned out to be a brain tumor. I highly recommend that you have a blood test done to check her hormone levels, especially prolactin level needs to be tested. It is usually benign. Good luck!

I have the same problem. My prolactin levels were said to be normal the last time I visited the doctor. She mentioned that if one is to take in a certain level of THC on a daily basis, that this may also cause lactation. As a former conossieur of marijuana, this was sad news, but I just wanted it to stop. So I stopped smoking.  It stopped for roughly 2 months, and is back full force. Has been going on for the last 5 years, under extreme stress. As well as that, I've never had a normal period. The last time I saw a doctor, they were wanting to send me to check to see if there was a tumor on my pituatiary gland, and that's about when my insurance under my parents' insurance expired. I simply cannot go to an MD or a GP or a gyno and have this checked out anymore, so I guess I'm just stuck with it. I just worry that if it is a tumor, I'll never find out and something terrible will happen. Hypothyroidism runs in my family. So perhaps that's it.

I don't know, but it's embarassing and annoying. And if untreated it can lead to sterility and/or eary menopause, I'd like to try and fix it.
