My mom just turned 40 and she is experiencing milk and clear discharge from her breasts. She thought maybe she was pregnant but tests said different. So was just wondering if this was a symptom of menopause or not. Thank you. ?

This doesnt sound like a symptom of menopause... A milky white, clearish discharge is the most common nipple discharge found in women. Usually this is caused by lactation. I assume you mom isnt lactating. Other causes could be an increase of the hormone, prolactin which is stimulated by the pituitary gland, pituitary tumors can cause an increased amount of prolactin and also cause this sort of discharge in both breasts. 50% of non cancerous conditions that produce a nipple discahrge are caused by papillomas, which are harmless branching tumors that may resemble warts and form in the breast ducts. Papillomas typically produce a more watery type of discharge. They usually cause a discharge from only one breast. Your mom should be seen by a doctor as soon as possible.
