I am 39 y/o and was recently prescribed Concerta XR 27mg for ADD. I have never taken anything in the past for ADD only medications for anxiety. I took the Concerta for 3 days and was having headaches, light headed, hands and feet feel cold (strange I know) and very "fuzzy/foggy" headed. The only positive effect I was feeling was that my thoughts seemed to slow down and I felt an inner calmness. I wasn't sure if some of the negative symptoms were related to sinus issues so I didn't take the Concerta over the weekend. The first day off the Concerta I still had the headache and foggy head and had to take Sudafed and Motrin to relieve the headache and sinus pressure. After resolving the sinus issue I was having I decided I would try the Concerta again. I restarted the Concerta today and do not have a headache but still feel the "foggy head" which actually makes my concentration/focus worse!! I feel like it's taking me longer to do my work tasks and having to concentrate harder. Has anyone had these symptoms? Is this something that will get better after my body adjust to the medication? I just don't want to waste my time if this is not the medication for me and I should try something different. From what I have read, most people feelt the effects of better focus almost immediately.

It took me a couple weeks to get used to Concerta, although I did not have effects similar to yours aside from the cold feeling. It could be that you need to take some more time to let your body get used to it, or sometimes people just don't react well to amphetamines. There are other options, which may or may not work as well. A few that come to mind right now are Wellbutrin, Strattera, Modafinil. Although I have only tried the Wellbutrin. Have you talked to your doc about what you are experiencing?
