I do have to say I feel better knowing that I'm not the only one around here with this. It is new for me. I am a 45 year old man in ok shape, not great but not bad either. I probably need to dust off the cobwebs on the treadmill in my living room. ;-)
I got this today on the way to work. While on the freeway, I had the urge to take in a lung full of air, and exhaled like making a long sigh....I think I even made the noise too...ahhhhhh....then it hit. I suddenly felt lightheaded. At the time, I thought it was the result of the air, maybe too much, or maybe I hyperventalated myself.
It accompanied a small headache that seemed to come from the base of the skull. It wasn't a hurt, but just enough of something different to let me know it's there. I felt a melancholy, a "blah" state of mind, very much like what you have described as the roller coaster light headed feeling.
I am at work now and can't help but to analyze the feeling. It's hard to put into words as I've never felt this way before. It's just not, normal. Light headed, spacey, very lightly dizzy. Not sure until I did a Google search and found this site.
You all described exactly how this feels. I even took a Bayer aspirin (325mg, it's all they had). I usually take the 81mg heart health version at home, but didn't this morning.....so I thought that might be it. Not sure, but not ruling it out.
I definitely feel something behind the eyes. I don't think it's pain or a headache, maybe very small pressure but even then, it's so minute I wouldn't call it pressure. Again, it just feels different. It all feels different, and it's just enough that it's noticeable.....to the point that if I could just blow my nose, I might be back to normal...kind of thing. Anyway, thanks for everyone sharing their experiences with this. If it continues, I'll join the ranks of those that have been seen by ENT docs.
I just hope I will be able to articulate the feelings....
Take care,
LC

TIMELINE OF SYMPTOMS
-6am (when i wake up) feeling fine
-6:30-7am-the pressure begins around my temples and top of my head
-7am-12pm- slight headache and spacey feeling (but easy to ignore)
-12pm-3:30- still slight headache and spacey but if i start to focus in on something i get light headed and my vision gets blurry until i shake my head to snap out of it.
3:30pm-10/11pm(when i go to sleep) i drive home from work and i feel so blah just dazed out like i dont even know what im doing just turning the wheel and going about my way then when i get home i immedietly go take a nap for an hour or 2 then i wake up and again just have pressure in the top of my head and temples (not pain...pressure) like someone or something is just constantly pushing down on the top of my skull and i want to keep scratching the top of my head and feel out of it until i lay down to go to sleep. i have to have the tv on because if i lay in silence it makes it so much worse so i turn the volume down low cover my eyes and just wait to fall alseep but in the mean time the pressure moves to the middle of my forehead i just hold my head and hope and pray that i will wake up in the moring.
its such a scary feeling when you dont know whats wrong with you or of the severity of it.

We all seem to be suffering from the same thing. I can totally relate to what you are going through. This all came on in one day. My life changed and I really struggled trying to find out what it is. There is something here and we need to give information to each other about what we are doing and what seems to work. I have been dealing with this for over a year. I will say this- I have felt better and the symptoms of spaceyness-dizziness-headaches have gotten a little better. I am going to tell you what I have tried medically to cure this. I am thirty-eight and am a high school teacher, married with two children.
Blood tests-Normal
thyroid test- normal
Full Head with contrast MRI- Normal
Eyes checked by a professional - My eyes have felt heavy- Thought the problem was with my eyes- Perfect vision- no problems
Full Chiropractic exam and weekly treatment. I tried this but made no difference- Just kept telling me I had tension in shoulders and neck
I did a nutrition test at the chiro that came back normal.
Prescription meds I tried- Lexapro ( Standard antidepressant, made no difference with how I felt)
amitriptyline (This is an old antidepressant that they also prescribe for migranes) (Made no difference)
I have tried every type of otc for allergies and none worked.
I have tried just about anything looking for a cure to this thing. My doctor said it was anxiety and stress related. I had a tough time accepting this because I never had an anxiety attack and my friends all describe me as super laid back. I can say that stress does play a major part of this. I teach high school and when I get upset or frustrated with my students, I feel the symptoms come on strong. My symptoms seem worse in the middle of the day, then subside as the evening goes on. I am not 100 % convinced it is stress/anxiety, but I do think it is a factor. Since my tests came back normal, my doctor was stuck on the anxiety thing. I have always been frustrated with my Doctor. I never felt like he wanted to figure out what this thing was. I could go on forever.. Like I said before- excersise seems to help me. No cure- just seems to keep the symptoms at bay. I still would like to get a full battery of allery tests to rule out some sort of allergic reation. Lets keep posting how we are doing and see if we can come up with something. Hang in there and keep moving forward with your life. I will not let this thing effect my quality of life. Take care- Todd

my symptoms have kind of calmed down for the past few days. I read on here someone saying that it helps if you let yourself understand it and not let it take over your life and since then ive been trying that i have noticed a difference. Ive been telling myself that i cant let it control me and just been going about my days as i normally would and it seems to be helping. i still get it once and a while but no where near as bad as it was for the past month. I too think it could be stress anxiety but the only thing that still doesnt make sense to me with that is just how it randomly hit me one night (Dec. 10th) and hasnt gone away since besides these last few days. Just staying updated. Best of luck to all.
Also i somehow noticed today that under my right rib cage when laying on my side when i push in theres this feeling as if something pops out when i push in on it. to the point where you can hear it pop when you release from pushing in on it but it does not do that on the opposite side. i read on here that it could be gallstones could that be related to the head problems? also how serious is the gallstones? thanks

Wow....these posts are strangely similar! I went to the ER about 5 days ago feeling extremely dizzy and they treated me for dehydration and overexhaustion, which were quite possible. However, I've been in a fog since then....cloudy, foggy, not-quite-myself, dizzy when I turn my head quickly, missing a word here or there, noticed a right foot drop in my gait that is more common than normal. I have struggled with non-specific pain for a few years now - head, neck, hips but MRI's and CT scans all show normal. Have slept poorly for over 8 years - often waking 20-25 times per night and/or awake for hours on end. Neurologist says this is "common" and headaches "may not go away". Cardiologist says it is anxiety. Orthopedic Surgeon cannot find any reason for pain. Internist not sure. Seeing a Rheumatologist this week.
Very frustrating. I probably would have told someone describing this to me that they were experiencing anxiety, but knowing myself and what my "normal" actually is I know it is something deeper.
Thanks for some of the tips to investigate....vit D, thyroid....you guys may want to have some Auto-immune tests run as well.....HLA-B27, CRP, ESR, and maybe some others. I am starting to think auto-immune diseases are much more common given our diets and environments in the USA.
