I do have to say I feel better knowing that I'm not the only one around here with this.  It is new for me.  I am a 45 year old man in ok shape, not great but not bad either.  I probably need to dust off the cobwebs on the treadmill in my living room.  ;-)

I got this today on the way to work. While on the freeway, I had the urge to take in a lung full of air, and exhaled like making a long sigh....I think I even made the noise too...ahhhhhh....then it hit.  I suddenly felt lightheaded.  At the time, I thought it was the result of the air, maybe too much, or maybe I hyperventalated myself.

It accompanied a small headache that seemed to come from the base of the skull.  It wasn't a hurt, but just enough of something different to let me know it's there.  I felt a melancholy, a "blah" state of mind, very much like what you have described as the roller coaster light headed feeling.

I am at work now and can't help but to analyze the feeling.  It's hard to put into words as I've never felt this way before.  It's just not, normal.  Light headed, spacey, very lightly dizzy.  Not sure until I did a Google search and found this site.

You all described exactly how this feels.  I even took a Bayer aspirin (325mg, it's all they had).  I usually take the 81mg heart health version at home, but didn't this morning.....so I thought that might be it.  Not sure, but not ruling it out.

I definitely feel something behind the eyes.  I don't think it's pain or a headache, maybe very small pressure but even then, it's so minute I wouldn't call it pressure.  Again, it just feels different.  It all feels different, and it's just enough that it's noticeable.....to the point that if I could just blow my nose, I might be back to normal...kind of thing.  Anyway, thanks for everyone sharing their experiences with this.  If it continues, I'll join the ranks of those that have been seen by ENT docs.

I just hope I will be able to articulate the feelings....

Take care,
LC

Wow I have ALL of these same exact symptoms and have been having them for almost a month now im 23 years young and it just randomly hit me one night i got light headed and dizzy and snapped out of it 3 times in a row and my heart started racing and my chest hurt feeling like i was having a heart attack or something i went to the ER that night and 2 times within a week after that and they like most of you told me it was anxiety but im never nervous or anxious or anything like that, ever since that night ive been having these constant symptoms. I feel fine when I first wake up but like the Topic Starter said about 30 minutes after I wake up I start to feel the pressure in my head by my temples. Its easy to ignore in the beginning of the day but as the day goes on it starts to get worse if i focus in on something i start to feel dizzy and light headed until i shake my head and i snap out of it. I also feel very spacey around 4pm throughout the rest of the day for example when im driving i just feel dazed out like i forget im even driving a car im just doing it somehow. Then when i get home i have no ambition at all i just wanna lay down and sleep. I have no problem eating in the first half of the day but around dinner time i know im hungry but the thought of food is just so blah but i try to eat anyways because i know i have to.I also have constant diarrhea and feel nauseas almost like im going to puke but i never do.I had the cat scan at the ER the 3rd time i was there because i demanded it but they said it was normal and sent me home saying it was just tension headaches which i know its not because ive had plenty of headaches throughout my life.I have an appointment with a neurologist in just over a week but i have a feeling like most of you they will say its anxiety or headaches or something simple like that.I really hate living like this and its only been a month i feel so bad and pray for all of you that have been dealing with this for much longer but it makes me feel slightly better knowing im not alone. I just want to be normal i used to be such a happy and outgoing person but everyday im just worrying if its going to get worse or if i will ever get any answers. Also my jaw does hurt I thought this was all maybe happening coming from my wisdom teeth because i was suppose to get them out a while ago but last week i seen a dentist about it and he said in no way would that be causing it.Sometimes the pressure in my head on the top feels almost like it itches or something IDK if anyone else feels like that but im just trying to describe things in the best way i can.My legs also feel very weak at the end of the day like i seen some others say.Lights hurt my eyes and make it wose. Its definitely the weirdest feeling ive ever felt and i dont get how this just randomly happened to me one day when i was feeling fine all that day and now it has been with me everyday all day since then :/ i wish you all the best of luck.

TIMELINE OF SYMPTOMS
-6am (when i wake up) feeling fine
-6:30-7am-the pressure begins around my temples and top of my head
-7am-12pm- slight headache and spacey feeling (but easy to ignore)
-12pm-3:30- still slight headache and spacey but if i start to focus in on something i get light headed and my vision gets blurry until i shake my head to snap out of it.
3:30pm-10/11pm(when i go to sleep) i drive home from work and i feel so blah just dazed out like i dont even know what im doing just turning the wheel and going about my way then when i get home i immedietly go take a nap for an hour or 2 then i wake up and again just have pressure in the top of my head and temples (not pain...pressure) like someone or something is just constantly pushing down on the top of my skull and i want to keep scratching the top of my head and feel out of it until i lay down to go to sleep. i have to have the tv on because if i lay in silence it makes it so much worse so i turn the volume down low cover my eyes and just wait to fall alseep but in the mean time the pressure moves to the middle of my forehead i just hold my head and hope and pray that i will wake up in the moring.

its such a scary feeling when you dont know whats wrong with you or of the severity of it.

I posted earlier and have had the same symptoms as you. I have had for over a year- since oct 2010. It has gotten better, but has been worse this past month again. Mine comes and goes in intensity. The interesting thing you said was about your jaw hurting. I wake up every day and it feels like I have been chewing a pack of gum at night. My cheeks and face are sore. I am going to the dentist soon to ask him. I am sort of convinced I have an underlying anxiety / stress issue and I am clinching my teeth at night. I have tried some antidepressants with no luck. Maybe I need to try some more. Excersice helps me as with low stress. Keep in touch- let me know what you find out.

^^^yeah my jaw always hurts...most in the morning and night.i find myself clenching my jaw when im trying to go to sleep so i tell myself to keep my mouth open and breathe through my mouth and i end up finally falling asleep. i really thought that my wisdom teeth were the cause of all this but the one thing that doesnt make sense to me the most is how these symptoms randomly hit me one night on a day when i was feeling perfectly fine and then havent gone away since and that was a month ago. i just dont get it. i know there is a nerve behind your jaw that if it is pinched it can make you pass out or feel dizzy and stuff which again would make sense with my wisdom teeth but what still doesnt make sense with that is how it hit me one day and hasnt gone away.... what kind of exercises do you do. also today ive tried to just realize that i cant let this keep holding me down and just try to go about my day as i normally would and it has kind of helped. not made it go away but made the day a little better.

I have been having the exact same thing for the past month! The doctor ordered a bunch of tests, all of which came back normal. I don't know what is wrong, but I am a little scared, because I haven't had anything like this before. The next thing we are going to do is test to make sure I am getting enough nutrition, because the doctor thought I was underweight.

We all seem to be suffering from the same thing. I can totally relate to what you are going through. This all came on in one day. My life changed and I really struggled trying to find out what it is. There is something here and we need to give information to each other about what we are doing and what seems to work. I have been dealing with this for over a year. I will say this- I have felt better and the symptoms of spaceyness-dizziness-headaches have gotten a little better. I am going to tell you what I have tried medically to cure this. I am thirty-eight and am a high school teacher, married with two children.

Blood tests-Normal

thyroid test- normal

Full Head with contrast MRI- Normal

Eyes checked by a professional - My eyes have felt heavy- Thought the problem was with my eyes- Perfect vision- no problems

Full Chiropractic exam and weekly treatment. I tried this but made no difference- Just kept telling me I had tension in shoulders and neck

I did a nutrition test at the chiro that came back normal.

Prescription meds I tried- Lexapro ( Standard antidepressant, made no difference with how I felt)

amitriptyline (This is an old antidepressant that they also prescribe for migranes) (Made no difference)

I have tried every type of otc for allergies and none worked.

I have tried just about anything looking for a cure to this thing. My doctor said it was anxiety and stress related. I had a tough time accepting this because I never had an anxiety attack and my friends all describe me as super laid back. I can say that stress does play a major part of this. I teach high school and when I get upset or frustrated with my students, I feel the symptoms come on strong. My symptoms seem worse in the middle of the day, then subside as the evening goes on. I am not 100 % convinced it is stress/anxiety, but I do think it is a factor. Since my tests came back normal, my doctor was stuck on the anxiety thing. I have always been frustrated with my Doctor. I never felt like he wanted to figure out what this thing was. I could go on forever.. Like I said before- excersise seems to help me. No cure- just seems to keep the symptoms at bay. I still would like to get a full battery of allery tests to rule out some sort of allergic reation. Lets keep posting how we are doing and see if we can come up with something. Hang in there and keep moving forward with your life. I will not let this thing effect my quality of life. Take care- Todd

well have had this for seven years and counting. I feel its stress/anxiety related because It got better when I stop worrying about it. I have noticed that its worse in the colder months in my country (december/january). The best we can do is eat right, sleep enough, exercise and dont let it take over out life.

my symptoms have kind of calmed down for the past few days. I read on here someone saying that it helps if you let yourself understand it and not let it take over your life and since then ive been trying that i have noticed a difference. Ive been telling myself that i cant let it control me and just been going about my days as i normally would and it seems to be helping. i still get it once and a while but no where near as bad as it was for the past month. I too think it could be stress anxiety but the only thing that still doesnt make sense to me with that is just how it randomly hit me one night (Dec. 10th) and hasnt gone away since besides these last few days. Just staying updated. Best of luck to all.

Also i somehow noticed today that under my right rib cage when laying on my side when i push in theres this feeling as if something pops out when i push in on it. to the point where you can hear it pop when you release from pushing in on it but it does not do that on the opposite side. i read on here that it could be gallstones could that be related to the head problems? also how serious is the gallstones? thanks

not sure if any of you are checking this still, but if so, you should all have your B12 checked. Trust me. Went years undiagnosed and once they finally caught it I started taking B12 shots.  Simple over the counter b12 vitamins and even under the tongue will not work - has to be shots. It's a pain, but once you are regulated you will feel so much better.  Mine was almost 100 when diagnosed supposed to be over 400.  Hard to believe something so simple could cause so many problems but it does.  I didn't know how to explain the feeling to my doctors, but to say it was like watching one of those terrible movies where someone runs with the camera and trying to focus on the tv.  Like being car sick sometimes. Anyway, hope this helps someone.  Good luck!

ive been taking B12 vitamins for about a week now and it has definitely helped! i still get slight headaches on some days but no where near as worse as it was. I seen the neurologist yesterday and he said he thought it was just a form of migraines and told me to try some stuff called migrelief so im going to look into that and he set me up for an MRI on monday. Also when he was looking in my eyes with a scope thing he said he seen something on the optic nerve in my left eye and told me to get that checked out asap so im going to do that. My left eye does kind of hurt but im not sure if i have to see a special eye doctor to get that checked out or if i can go to a regular vision place.

Similiar symptoms: 6 weeks ago I started feeling light headed 24/7 accompanied with double vision and an inability to focus my eyes. Ive had thyroid issues and while it is a little high its still in range. Lowered my Synthroid intake but still when i stand or walk, i feel like im high. I do smoke cigarettes so im almost wondering if maybe its connected. Been to the E.R. twice, MRI was fine, CT was fine. Ive been to a Graves surgeon, neurologist, ENT and no one seems to know. Its not Vertigo according to the neurologist. Room doesnt spin but im light headed, lack of energy, etc. My cardiologist says it ma be chromic dehydration, which i agree ive never drank many fluids except for coffee. Ive changed my diet around, protein intake and 12 cups of water daily. Still no help. Easier in the house but as soon as im outside or in a bigger place, the vision becomes weird and spacey. I do start to shake a little probably because i also have no appetite yet body feels like maybe it is. Im on synthroid, flonase and now xanex. Last year i had a flu shot and went double vision. Dr said due to the fact that i have Graves. But now the double vision feels different and my graves specialist says the double vision is not there according to the eye movement.  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** private e-mails not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use

Love to hear from people if this condition sounds familiar or anyone has advice. This is making me so depressed

Wow....these posts are strangely similar!  I went to the ER about 5 days ago feeling extremely dizzy and they treated me for dehydration and overexhaustion, which were quite possible.  However, I've been in a fog since then....cloudy, foggy, not-quite-myself, dizzy when I turn my head quickly, missing a word here or there, noticed a right foot drop in my gait that is more common than normal.  I have struggled with non-specific pain for a few years now - head, neck, hips but MRI's and CT scans all show normal.  Have slept poorly for over 8 years - often waking 20-25 times per night and/or awake for hours on end.  Neurologist says this is "common" and headaches "may not go away".  Cardiologist says it is anxiety.  Orthopedic Surgeon cannot find any reason for pain.  Internist not sure.  Seeing a Rheumatologist this week.

Very frustrating.  I probably would have told someone describing this to me that they were experiencing anxiety, but knowing myself and what my "normal" actually is I know it is something deeper.

Thanks for some of the tips to investigate....vit D, thyroid....you guys may want to have some Auto-immune tests run as well.....HLA-B27, CRP, ESR, and maybe some others.  I am starting to think auto-immune diseases are much more common given our diets and environments in the USA.
