Recently i had an infection and my gynecologist prescribed me metronidazole. Before i got the check up i experienced cramping and pain during intercourse then after i had very very bad cramps for about 10 or 15 minutes while i felt like i was going to vomit so bad. The next day i continued to have cramps but not severe. They lasted for about a week then i got help because they started to hurt more and i begin to get a discharge with odor -bad. After taking the medicine i felt better but i continue to get cramps during intercourse then after. Nothing major but it is there. It has been about a month now. I am afraid of what i may have. I went back to my gynecologist and she said i was okay!(?) I think i should get a second opinion but this is embarrassing to talk about. She told me it was because i used a douche. The same one and too many times. I knew no better then. But even since she explained why not to i haven't. Do i have a STD? I have only had one partner. I keep pointing my finger at him. Am i blaming the wrong person possibly? I am confused.

Douching is not good, it can lead to pelvic pain and other problems.
You should ask for a full work-up if you suspect STD'S.

Cramp-girl I have had the same symptoms for over a month now the doc prescribed the same thing. I don't think douching is your problem though. I have known for several years now that they r no good so I don't use them. Probably not an STD either. But that is just my opinion based on my issues. But then again I couldn't get my doc to give me an answer as to what was wrong. This ,and I quote, was what he told me....."Oh you women have all kinds of problems down there"!!!! Can you believe it. I have had recurring bladder, kidney, and urinary infections for all of my adult life so I am thinking it has something to do with that. But without a doc that cares enough to figure it out who knows.

I've had ongoing problems for most of my sexual life, about 10 years now. I've been through every anti biotic known to man. In and out of doctors offices and hospital more times than I can recall. The preventitive drugs I have trialled have been a bit hit and miss but I recently discovered this
I've found it is the most effective treatment i've ever tried and would recommend it to anyone with UTIs

Hello there. The medicine - Metronidazole is used to treat infections of the vigina. These can lead to fungal infections and pelvic Inflammatory infection. The sharp pain you are describing is common of PID - Pelvic inflammatory disease, the discharge is indicitive of a fungal infection.
I would definitely go for a second opinion if you are not happy, it's your right. I was wrongly diagnosed for 6 months with cysts when I did infact have a ovarian tumor, had I not been so persistent I might not be here today.
Good luck hope you are better soon. x

You need to get a full check up from a clinic somewhere other then where your Gyno is. Most area offer free clinics where they check for all STDs and aids. After you have done that you need to throw out all "douche" products in your home. If sex hurts... don't continue having it until you are sure. It may be as extensive as requiring an ultrasound. Use a different doctor. Also... do not put blame on your partner. It is a frustrating situation for the both of you.
