My wife has had the Mirena device in for about 6 months now, and for the last 5 months she hasn't had a period. I went away for a week and did not have a way to contact her (rough terrain). I have insecurities that my wife would cheat on me, and when I returned home, she had started a full blown period. It seemed strange timing, and I am wondering does this signal that she may have been unfaithful?

Heya Pauls pool,
If you read any website about the Mirena's side effects it will clearly tell you that the device effects the menstrual cycle in the first 3-6 months e.g. make them heavier or stop them altogether. Since having it fitted her periods ceased and now she's getting a period, the device and hormone may just be settling into her system and as a result messing with her cycle (everybody is different). Read up on the side effects of the device or ask your wife about it, she will have been told everything about this form of contraception when she had it fitted.
As for the being unfaithful, you'll need more evidence than this to confirm your insecurities. Have you always been insecure in past relationships? Have you cheated or been cheated on in the past? This may sound really personal but these factors may create a sense of doubt. I don't know your wife but if she is faithful and you start accusing her of cheating it will really hurt her. But this is a thought that won't go away is it??
Approach the topic of infidelity with great caution and keep calm, arguing rarely solves anything but talking does.
I hope this has answered at least part of your question but keep us posted.
