Hi i was wondering if your ear fixed it self? I have had the same thing happen. I have to wait months for an ENT appointment so I am left hanging until then. Any info would be appreciated.

I've the same symptoms. I had a perforated tympanic membrane about 6-7 months ago and my hearing hasn't returned to what it once was, sometimes though when i get water up my nose my hearing comes back. I can only describe it as maybe when the tear healed i had positive pressure in the drum and when water gets up there towards my eustacion tube it creates a suction and balance is restored if only until i swallow again then poof back to sounds under water. ENT docs don't understand and tell u everything is fine but they don't know everything thats why its called a practice (physician's office). I wish i had an answer but i cant go around with my nose full of water and my head tipped to the side for life its frustrating

Oh wow, do I ever understand. My eardrum perforated due to a EMT physician's assistant digging too deep after my GP prescribed antibiotics and they in turn caused a serious fungus. So now, all clean, but hearing is pretty much not there. A little, and mostly low frequencies. I finally went to a real EMT medical doctror and he did test my hearing. It's normal behind the eardrum, but the hole is making me so frustrated. Can't really wash my hair and so tired of having the TV up to 80 to be able to h ear. I will try the surgery if it does not get better in three months.
