ok...here's the deal. my boyfriend and i last had sex nearly three weeks ago. my period had ended two weeks before we had sex. he used a condom with spermicide and it didn't fall off or break or anything. and now i am a week late to get my next period.
the thing of it is, i've heard that mentrual cycles can change drastically when lifestyles change. for the past year i'd lived with two other girls and my periods were always right on time, and my roommates and i always had our periods at the same time. and every time i've ever moved between school and home my period would change slightly, between being with my friends or living at home with my family.
now i live alone because my roommates are gone for the summer. lots of things have changed. i even got a different position at work, i'm alone a lot, i engage in a few different activities but i'm not on my regular structured routine that i was on while i was still attending school. even my sleeping patterns have changed. sometimes i get stressed out or scared living by myself. and i've just heard that things like this can mess with menstrual cycles.
but like i said, i'm a week past due...i've taken two home pregnancy tests and they both came back negative. my boyfriend and i are extremely paranoid. we did everything correctly...and after talking things through we don't even want to have sex for a long time now.
could i be pregnant? or could the sudden change in my lifestyle just be messing with my period???

YES, OUR bodies can change dramatically due to stress, illness, lifestyle changes, for NO GOOD reason at all.. ;-)
Condoms are great, but there are quite a few condom pregnancies that do happen. My biggest piece of advice would be to find a more effective form of birth control, and back it up with condoms..MAINLY because you are a student, and I doubt you wanna get pregnant anytime soon.
If money is an issue, your local County Health department, or even a planned parenthood can get you low cost or free birth cotnrol =)
Because the condom did not break or rip, and your pregnancy test is NEG, it is most likely you are NOT pregnant. Your period is just acting up on you.

thank you... i'm still a little paranoid but it always feels better to hear someone else reiterate my gut feeling. i don't think i'm pregnant... just the thought of it all scares me i guess. thanks!
