Day 12
It was moving day today, which really threw a wrench in my recovery plans. I ended up walking and standing a lot more than I should have. By 4pm I was pretty sore, and had to take a quick bath. However, I managed to survive the day without any prescription meds. Only 600mg advil at 4pm. I didn't even need any meds after my BMs. I'm not going to take any meds tonight before bed. See what happens.

Day 13
Today took a turn for the worse. Post BM pain came back, forcing me to sit in bath after each one (I had 3 in the morning and one at night). The BMs were all really soft except the last one. I was constipated for the first time tonight. Strange to say "constipated" when it was my 4th poo of the day, but I really needed to go, but there was definitely a traffic jam at the exit. A t**d played peek-a-boo at the back gate for five minutes. After I finally broke the dam, the rest of the troops crossed enemy lines with ease.
On a positive note, I was able to sleep the entire night last night with no prescription or OTC drug. A full 8 hours (waking up 2 times to pee). The rest of the day was pretty good. Can walk faster now (almost at normal pace without having to limp).
still swollen with discharge. ughh!

Day 14
No significant changes. I drank 4 beers (first drink since operation). My BM felt 100% normal after my drinks other than I still had to use preparation H wipes instead of toilet paper. But once I sobered up I had another BM that really stung, so maybe it was just the alcohol numbing the pain before. No pills at all today or tonight.

Day 15
I had an enormous hangover. Woke up in the middle of the night with a pounding headache. took 3 advil, went back to sleep. 2 hours later woke up with a bigger headache coupled with nausea and diarrhea. I couldn't actually vomit, just dry heaved a dozen times in an hour. I would almost trade the day 1 post op pain for the nausea this morning.
Somehow drinking only 4 beers yesterday felt like I drank a whole keg. I didn't even mix with pain meds, so I'm not sure what the deal was. Maybe taking so much acetaminophen damaged my liver to the point where it couldn't metabolize alcohol anymore. Whatever the case, I'm not touching another drink for a long long time.
Other than that recovery's been great. The itching has started, but it's not too bad yet. BMs don't scare me. I can walk at a normal pace, but just not with a normal gait. The leakage makes me paranoid about talking to anyone in a small room as the smell quickly fills small spaces. The fluid is also causing a lot of irritation down there, so if I don't clean it every hour, it gets chafed really badly. I can't wait for that part to stop.

Week 3
slow improvement every day, but good thing is there's improvement every day. still leaking a lot. Swelling going down day by day. BMs pretty much normal now. Lifting weights is fine, but running is still a no-go. The impact is uncomfortable. Still can't really sit comfortably, but that's the worst of it. One thing I learned is to always wipe with wet wipes, not just after BM, but constantly throughout the day. That really helps with the irritation from the leakage, and it keeps the smell away. Every 45 minutes.
Week 4
Just had my 4 week post-op visit. I got some surprising news. I thought the doc only took out my 3 internal roids. Apparently he also took out 2 external ones too while he was down there! I didn't think those were problematic, but he thought they had good potential to be, so I guess I'm glad he did it even though that probably increased my post-op pain level.
The leakage has completely stopped. No more panty liners! But I still like wet wipes after BMs. I'll probably use those for the rest of my life just to give myself a better cleaning after dry toilet paper. The swelling has completely subsided. Only skin tags are left, which will continue to shrink according to the doc. But he said due to the size or rhoids cut, my tags will never disappear on their own. I can get them cut off in 6 months if I want to (not sure I want to lol). it's supposedly a relatively painless procedure (compared to dectomies). I can sit, lift weight, swim, jog, and do all my normal activities now without discomfort.
After living with them for so long, life without hemorrhoids is like being released from prison after a long incarceration. It's so liberating!
This will likely be my last post in this thread as there's nothing more to contribute. Good luck to all those who are considering a hemorrhoidectomy.
