I have had the same thing! I am 19, have never been on the pill, am not sexually active. My period used to be like 5 days normal.. not really too heavy tho. And then all of a sudden it only lasts like a day. And sometimes I have cramps and bloating a week before hand... seems to be a bit much for only one day of menstruation. I am also worried that its gonna affect my fertility when I wanna have kids..

HI there, I am having somewhat of the same problem. Ok I got my period 11/2/10 I had it for 4 days but it was wierd cuz I would bleed some during the day then it would stop it was like that everyday that i had it!! So then 2 weeks later I had sex!! yeah. and at first he didnt wear a condom but then i made him put one on. So the next day I took a test just to be sure from befor you know (i know i wouldnt tell in one day) it was negative so i took the plan b pill!!! Then I went to plan parent hood to get bc and they gave me a test there also which was on 11/28/10 and it was negative...but they want to wait for an other test to come back negative when i go back on 12/13/10. So i started to bleed today (12/4/10) that was in the afternoon and when i went back to change the tampond there was basically nothing. and now the bleeding has stopped!!! I'm really nervous!! i dont need to be prego right now i'm 22 and i already have 3 kids and the youngest is only a few months old!!! i'm scared!

wow im 27 and i have one child and i had an abortion and after that my period went from 5 days being strong for 3 then to one but sometimes i get it for 2 or three but mostly one day so very big change for my body and i had my son at 18 im so glad to know there is other girls out there but i still believe something changed it and i dnt no what maybe the abortion i havent been on the pill since i had my son and i havent fallen since then but then again its harder to fall anyways i will say abortions and the inplannon can cause infertility and clamidia can eat ur insides so have regular test if ur sexually active um my doc gave me an ultrasound and said im fine so ive just been super lucky and stress is a major factor so girls stop stressing every period is diff and if u are like me ive told my self that i couldnt fall pregnant lol and that sounds crazy but if u really believe it same with couples who try and stress and think negative then they give up get a pet and fall also ive been told cats have some bad dieases that can cause infertility

hey guys
Im back anyways after talking to my mum ive realised thats most likely our problems are from endometriosis,
my mother had the same problems and to check if u have it u need to have an internal ultrasound
if you are wanting to fall pregnant all you need to do have laser done but i dnt have much info on endo but i do know
the longer u wait the less chances you of you falling prregnant and if you have children early in life most likely it can
reverse itself but i dnt know how true that is good luck ladies

Hi everyone. I am 24 years old and I have had three children with NO problems getting pregnant whatsoever. I also have periods that last only a day. The first few hours of it I have pretty heavy bleeding and am in a lot of pain. I just think of it as maybe we expel the blood quicker than others? It's a lot more painful than a normal period to me cause I haven't always been like this. However, I can assure you it won't affect your fertility! My kids are 4, 3, and 1. I was a little worried in the beginning thinking maybe something was wrong, but now that I know I'm not the only one experiencing this I feel better about it. I'd like to call us lucky! :-)

I am a 26 year old mother of a 5.5 year old. I have been off of birthcontrol of any kind besides condoms for almost 5 years. I don't smoke and rarely drink. I've always had heavy 4-5 day long periods. Used to be with cramping, bloating and moodiness all throughout the midst of the period, to the point that I didn't understand/believe in PMS because all the PRE-menstral symptoms seemed to happen to me not BEFORE my period, but rather DURING it. Well, over the past 6 months I had noticed that the symptoms were actually tending to come before my period (mainly the cramping was the one that went away while actually ON my period), but the bleeding was still heavy and lasted 4-5 days. Well, my husband and I had sex on Thanksgiving, using condoms, and I noticed my period last month, on December 15th, came one day, just hit me with a wave of excruciating cramps, and heavy bleeding that one day, then was quite a bit lighter the 2nd day, then by day 3 was just spotting dark blood, like it was already over. I took a pregnancy test at home 5 days later, and it was negative. Then this month January, I anticipated my period. It did the same as it did in December. Heavy the 1st day with a wave of cramps hitting me all at the same time, the 2nd day much lighter, then spotting/ending by day 3. What is going on? I don't have means of going to the doctor, so if it doesn't seem lfe threatening then I tend to ignore it, or keep an eye on it in case it were to become life threatening. Does anyone actually know what is the deal with this? I would really like a real explanation! Thanks to all!!! :-D

@candi83, hi, i thought symptoms of endometriosis is heavy & long periods, i read it from wiki, Until now I still don't know what to call our problems, Im worried but Im am not thinking that I am sick or something, I 've read from internet that it will not afftect womens fertility as long as you have period every cycle.. so we don't need to worry, ;-)

hey margarita
you have a great point there and thats why i thought i couldnt have endo for the facts ive looked up say the same thing but I just know this because my mum went through it and only had her period for one to two days a month and she is now 46 and had a hystereretomy last year she also had adhesions she also told me she didnt have cramps so i really dont think there is enough info on endo =)

Hi all
I have 1/2 day periods, I'm 29 and have not been on the pill for years.
The 1/2 days I have my period are really, really heavy, then it just spotting. I get quite bad cramps and nausea with it.
I assumed that my body was just super efficient at clearing it all out, hence the heavy flow.
I always looked at it as being lucky, rather than a problem. I'm as regular as clockwork, and the doctor said as long as you are having periods every month there is no problem.

hello all,
well i have to say its fairly comforting after reading this; that i really am not the only one to have a really short period. Although after reading the posts i do differ in age because i really am quite young. only seventeen years old. My menstrual cycle is regular so i can predict when i'm due to begin etc. On the first day its usually intense lower back pain and abdominal cramps. Its then i begin. The next 24 hours i do bleed rather heavily with blood clots passing every hour or so. :/ I have to say i'm not on any contraception methods or medication for an illness; Neither am i sexually active. I really am not sure whether this is normal for a girl my age. and yes i'm fully healthy with a healthy BMI ratio. Most of my friends have said they have the typical 4-7 day period so..
In two minds in whether i'm just blessed in not having a long period or whether i should go on the pill, seek some form of medical advice?
can anyone just help with a little reassurance please?
kind regards.
