I live in a single-family home that was converted to 2 apartments, one on the 2nd floor and one on the 1st floor. I'm on the first floor. My upstairs neighbor has a son, I believe he's about 6, and he CONSTANTLY screams, stomps, bangs on things, etc. This goes on until 11pm or later, and then starts again around 7am, daily. To make it worse, once he starts, the mother starts screaming and cursing at him. To top it all off, there's daily screaming matches at 6-7am about him getting up for school.... probably because he's up until anywhere between 11pm and 2am.
I would totally understand if the kid yelling, etc. was a once in a while kind of thing; I get that kids have bad days too. And I'm sympathetic to the fact that you just can't always control kids. But it isn't once in awhile... it's every single day. I have to get up anytime between 6am and 7am for work, which means I need to be in bed around 10pm-11pm at the latest. As I'm laying there trying to sleep, he's running around screaming. On top of that, there's been multiple times I've been woken up at 3am, 5am, whenever, by one or both of them. There's frequently nights where the kid is up until 2am or later -- I know because I can hear him running around the house.
I moved in in November, and it's been a daily occurrence since. I'm at my wit's end; I never get enough sleep because I'm constantly being kept awake or woken up by them. I'm tired, I'm agitated, I can't concentrate. I don't want to be that neighbor and like I said, I would understand if it was once in awhile, but it isn't.
I have no idea what to do. Do I try to talk to her (she doesn't exactly seem like a... reasonable person)? Do I just talk to the landlord instead? Do I say nothing and continue to be kept awake or woken up every night? Help, please :(
