Hi, I am 19 years old and sexually active. About a week ago I was maybe two days off my period and I had noticed that I was having a thin watery clear discharge that didnt have a smell. Maybe a day later I had protected sex. Before I had intercourse my bladder was kinda full but I didnt use the bathroom until after I had finished intercourse with my partner. A couple of days later I noticed that my discharge began to be turning yellowish in color and it dries up in my underwear and I feel irritated down there. I also noticed that know I find myself running to the bathroom in the morning to empty my bladder. Could I possibly have a bladder infection? I am treating myself for a yeast infection, but I want to know could it be something else? I have never had a STD so I know its not that because I get tested whenever I have unprorected sex.

It sounds a lot to me like you might have a bladder infection and I don't think that's something that you can really blame on someone even though it seems like it's an issue. I think the best thing to do is see a doctor about it to confirm the diagnosis and then let us know what your doctor says. Thanks!

The trick to not getting a bladder infection is to go pee immediately after intercourse. I have had my share or bladder infections trust me. See what happens to cause the infection is (hope this isnt too out of line to explain it) while you are having sex your urethra is constantly rubbing against your partener which ends up irritating it. By going pee afterwards you are releasing something sterile through your urethra rather than letting it sit and fester. Letting it sit is what cause the bladder infection. No matter what happens, after sex I reccomend going to the bathroom immediately to prevent an infection.

For those who dont know the difference between an STD and a bladder infection, its simple:

Bladder infection= You constantly feel as though your bladder is full but when you get to the bathroom nothing but little dribbles come out. And they burn. Most bladder infections also smell terrible. I cant describe the odor but it is not pleasant.

STD= Most STD's affect more than just your genitals. They have a tendancy to affect your entire system. There are many differt STDs so I will not go into all of them.
