Hi, I've been reading everyones post, congratulations on quiting to use cannabis. I have lived a drug and alcohol free life until I was damaged in a accident. And so I understand the desire to have clear thinking and find it to be a good choice.
I have a question for those that have used for a long time.
I will have to take pain management for the rest of my life, right now they have me on opiates that are making me very sick and are very addictive, meaning that they stop working and withdraw happens a couple times a day.
I was considering switching to cannabis, and am reading all the cons about it before making the switch, under doctors supervision of course.

I want to ask if the people what they they think about this, since I have to take opiate pain killers and muscle relaxers, would switching to just cannabis be more destroying than going to oxycontin and a different muscle relaxer?
I can't take anti-inflamatories, so I was lean towards allowing the cannabis to act as the pain reliever and muscle relaxer and anti-inflamatory as well as for the nerve damage and anti seizer medicine that I can't take either.

Everyone here is having such a hard time quiting so I am concerned, I break addiction once to twice a year from the opiates to keep my health and to allow them to work at lower dosages. I am sure I will have to break addiction to cannabis as well and am worried as to weather I can or not.
when I do break addiction, I go back to how I was before pain management.. pretty much bedridden and suicidal from the pain.

So there is no question I will have to continue pain management for a very long time or for life.

I hope I don't offend anyone here, that isn't my purpose, this is an important desitition for me.
thanks so much for your time.

Hi Sorry to hear you are in pain. People that do not have severe constant pain have no idea what it is like. I was on so many different pain meds that i had no life, and still in pain.
I Stopped all by using cannabis during the withdrawals and it did more for the pain than all the pain meds including the 80mg Oxycontin that I was taking along with several other serious pain medications. I eventually just stopped all and have learned to just deal with the pain. If pot were legal I would have no problem using it, but in this state they take everything if they catch you growing it and it is just too risky to look for it all the time from illegal sources.
The addiction of cannabis is very limited, you will simply loose a few nights sleep, I have been a long time user, heavy at times, and have never had any other withdrawals from it. Since you do as I did and break the addiction to opiates from time to time, you should have no problem with getting off pot, I find it less addicting than coffee. I do suggest that if you use it it should be eaten rather than smoked because it helps pain much more that way.
If you live in a state where you can get it legally I say it is much safer than any other pain medication. If you live in a state where the government is controlled by drug companies, be very careful, prison is no fun.
I am not a doctor, but have used both pot and legally prescribed pain medication for 35 years, on pain meds my life is not worth living, on pot my only problem is with the law.

I love you

God bless our lives that people will flex to help us.

If cannabis is good, then good luck

Try using without smoking to help alleviate public doubt that cannabis is good.
