My outer labia is swollen, dry & somewhat reddish (probably from rubbing against clothes). This has become very painful to the point where I must where sweat pants and find myself waddling... can someone please help me? I can't ask anyone else... I'm farrrr too embarrassed. Oh and just to make sure it's known... I've had a boyfriend for over a year and he has been my only (concentual) sexual partner. Please HELP! :'( By the way... just in case this is relevant... I have herpes simplex... like coldsores... eek! o.O

If it’s not from the herpes, it could be contact dermatitis or some kind of skin disorder. It has probably nothing to do with sex if it has been persistent and apparent even without having sex and if the sex is not that rough to be causing these symptoms all the time.
Contact dermatisis is an inflammation of the skin caused by direct contact with an irritating substance. Now, this irritating substance can be a new detergent, a lubrication you used, maybe a reaction to a condom, vaginal deodorants and all sorts of other stuff.
Whatever you are using, it would be good if you stopped for some time to see if the symptoms go away. If they don’t go away, you should certainly see a dermatologist and have it checked to see if there’s an underlying skin disorder.
You shouldn’t be embarrassed; it would be as if you had a dry skin and a rash on another part of your body. Just make sure you maintain a good hygiene when seeing a doc!
