Sometimes when I'm swimming and I point my foot to one sIde it feels almost like I ripped a muscle and the only way to cure the pain is to flex my foot in the opposite direction. Does anyone know what's wrong?

Sounds like a bit of cramp to me. I wouldn't expect it to be something to worry about, if its causing you problems maybe a physiotherapist could help.

Is there any swelling or fluid in the area of the pain? There is a chance it is a sprain or strain that you are aggravating when you're swimming. It is unusual to get an injury from swimming though - it is a very low impact activity!

If it was a sprain would it stop it being painful by flexing another way?
