I have been sexually active for about 3 years and today I began to experience pain around my clitoris and inside my vagina. There is no discharge and it does not hurt when I pee. I do feel like I may have a more frequent urge to urinate but those seem to be my only symptoms. The pain has lessened quite a bit but I have remained rather uncomfortable for about 10 hours. I am not sure of what this could be and I'm pretty scared. I don't know if I should see a doctor right away or wait a few days to see if it goes away. Please help.

It is very true that all of the medical issues listed can cause this pain as well. However, tonight is the third time I've experienced this in my very sexually active adult life. If you have already ruled out that it isn't a female medical issue, its because your partner is hitting your cervix. This always happens to me when I am about to start my period. Your cervix drops and is lower. The pain comes from your cervix being pushed or even penetrated. Your cervix is what dialates to allow your baby to exit the womb. Dialation is excruciating pain, that's why women in labor get the good stuff to help ease it. Another reason I know this is because I have been manually dilated by my obgyn when I had Mirena inserted since my cervix was too small to take it. It's the same exact horrible feeling as that day. Extreme abdomen cramping and pain, not wanting to move, hard to focus on anything because the pain is so intense and overwhelming, nausea, vomiting from the intense nausea (bodies defense mechanism) it's very rough, very painful and very scary. Only method that works for me is pain pills (Tylenol aspirin), get in a somewhat, as much as you can be, comfortable position laying down, stay put for at least 1-2 hrs. That's when it's the worst, right after it happens! Otherwise, you just have to deal, it will go away within 4-24 hours depending on how rough or hard the cervix was hit. Only preventatives are stopping sex immediately first time you feel that sensation that it doesn't feel good or hurts or avoiding sex right before your period if you're prone to this happening. Everyone is shaped differently, most people never experience this outside of labor, so they have no clue and will looks at you like there's something wrong with you. If the pain continues past 24 hours I would go see your obgyn because more than likely there are more serious issues happening in your female parts. Hope this helps anyone else trying to figure out what the hell is happening to them when this happens. Good luck!
