Hi. I had my left gland removed in 12/27 and am still in recovery. Wearing pantues is an irrritant. I actually bought mesh parties from Amazon so as reduce how irritating wearing anything is. I am still having some discharge though from what I can see, everything looks mostly healed. I will say that like you, I have a flap too that they stitched to my labia. It's weird. I see my doctor in 10 days and I can't wait. I'm concerned because even wiping after urinating, this flap is sensitive and not in a good way. It feels exposed and certainly wasn't there before my surgery. My fear is that there will be no discourse and this is it. Not sure how I will deal with this sexually because I can't hardly bear to wipe myself. I just sort of pat the area.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. It's a relief to hear that your experience wasn't so bad. I've heard many people say it is a long, painful recovery and it's freaking me out. I'm having the surgery in a little over a week...I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well and I have a smooth recovery as you did. During recovery did you take sitz baths and use heat compresses?

Hi, I have had my Barth cyst drained and stitched again. Not much information was given after the surgery and a week on I am now experiencing lots of pain when urinating. How long did the healing process take ? I mean how long did you wait to have sex again? I went back to work a week later and am really struggling with it now as I have an active job. How long were you off work for? Thanks in advance

thanks for this answer I'm terrified by all the stories in the forums and getting chronic pain when having intercourse. I'm getting the operation this Sunday if it goes well I'll post the story too. I wish there was more info available. I read I won't be able to have sex for a min of 6 weeks after the surgery, same with exercise some people had to wait longer, let's see...

You may be allergic to the latex in the catheter? Or maybe the stitches?

So, I developed this little pea sized knot. Didn't know what it was. I had my hubby look at it and feel it. 2 weeks later it was a golf ball sized knot that was blocking the entrance to my Vagina. Last night I went to the ER because I am in between OBGYNs and I couldn't get in to see one for 6 more weeks. The pressure was too much. The drained mine, EXCRUCIATING pain, even after 2 oral Percocet and topical with a needle full of anaesthetic. The minute it was drained, instant RELIEF! But I have to tell you, either the placement of this catheter or the fact that I am that sore, has made my pain extreme. I can't wait for this catheter to come out and it hasn't even been in for 24 hours yet!!!

I was confined in the hospital this 27th of May since my Bartholins abscess hurts so much, the pain is unbearable, prolly no words can't describe how in pain i was that time but before ny OB got me checked, my abscess burst out and geez i felt better but my OB's advice was to admit me and get under a marsupilization since my genitals swell too much. I had my operation the next morning under local anesthesia, no pain really, even after the operation i can walk, stand, and pee on my own. But do not force yourself or lift heavy stuff. Now is the 3rd day after my operation, i am so happy with the outcome, it still has a little lump but i hope it will subside in another couple of days, my ob recommended sitz bath and i do it 3 times a day. I work as it ease some pain and lessen the odor and discharge i have. I'm still unable to go to work but hopefuly in a few more days i could go back

Hello All
I have been suffering from BC since I became sexually active 3 years ago. So far I have had 5. They were all drained with word catheter put in which wouod last anywhere from 2 - 4 weeks and yes of course uncomfortable to sit and urinate.the cysts would grow overnigt and become extremely sore with excruciating pain. So when I last my recent one 1 month ago My doctor decided to do marsupilisation. When i went in to see him he just used a huge needle to draw out as much abscess as he could and scheduled me to surgery in 3 days time. I read almost every post on the internet and was extremely worried that I will be in pain for days or weeks. I kept questioning my Gyn if I will be able to return to work soon. He said I would need just one day off for the surgery. So I finally went in for my marsup. Was under general anesthesia for an hour and was sent home. My aftercare nurse wAs horrible and gave me no instructions.
That aas the most painful day. I was scared to urinate because of the stories I read but guess what I felt no burn or sting.I took almost 3 norco to feel better from the pain of being messed with down there though and fall asleep. The following morning I woke up noticing no pain. I walked around used the bathroom and felt nothing. I decided to go to work and The doctor was right no pain no discomfort except I felt tired after the day and came home with very little discomfort. It's been a month now, the stiches are still there but there has never been any pain. The bleeding was minimum and lasted only 2 days. I'm still using a liner though because of discharge which is minimal as well.
So overall my experience was really painfree. Thanks to the great surgery my gyn did.

Also, before going in for catheters and marsup. Every time I would try every home remedy from soaks, witch hazel, tea tree oil, calamine lotions, serrapettase, tissue salts, coconut oil with turmeric, etc , etc , NOTHING worked for me.

I had this surgery 6 days ago. I am still bleeding like I'm having a period (had a hysterectomy 5 years ago) - having to change pads 4 or 5 times a day. I have a dull ache and my one side is still so swollen, bruised and hard as a rock that still I can't sit straight, literally! I'm not sure the swelling and bleeding is normal.

I just had the surgery yesterday and that was the first thing I asked "can it return?"
The answer is yes! It is a gland that they drain, cutting it out requires serious surgery and chances of a lot of blood loss. So they drain them instead seeing as this isn't a big deal. It was my first surgery so it was definitely a traumatic experience.

I feel your pain, i had 7 cysts already, had Marsupialization done last week and im starting to wish i never did it, instead of getting better its getting worse, no amount of heavy pain killers are taking away the pain. Rather let the cyst come and get it drained than go through this hell.
