I am currently 40 weeks pregnant with my first child and having a c section this Saturday Jan 2 2016. I never had these cyst before until I became pregnant. Then they have came on over and over again. Which sucks because they can do nothing for me while pregnant. The first one I had I noticed about three days after sex and was about as big as a tennis ball. It swelled up to my pelvic bone and I had to have my fiance drain it because I was in so much pain I couldn't do anything but cry. The next day I went to my gyno who lanced me again. I lasted about 4 months and then it came back again. Since then I have had 5 more and been lanced 6 times total. 3 of my lancings and 4 cuts within the past month including a catheter which was falling out and hurt so bad when I pee. My most recent I was cut towards the top and down by my butt because it was so huge. They filled up 3 pads with infection. My doctor said none of my antibiotics are lancings would reach the rest of the infection in the gland and the only other option is removal of my gland. Now after my c section with my son I will go back to get it removed. Until then I've been to the er 4 times in a month. Can't walk, sit , pee or poop, or even sleep without waking up in unbearable pain.... I trully hope this removal of my gland helps. Because I'm to my wits end with the pain and no sex

have been dealing with a bc since easter weekend 2015 when it got infected. u though it was a ingrown hair. got rid of the infection had no issues. became pregnant in Sept, during first prenatal exam doc said she was going to send me to a specialist. saw him within a week. he suggested drainage and a word catheter. I said okay. he said we'd have to wait until after 20 weeks. so come December 10th I miscarried. I had my appointment on Jan 20th two days ago.

I should have just left the little b****r alone. even though I was "numb" I felt the scapel, the relief was nice but now this catheter is hurting way more then the cyst ever did! I can't sit or walk properly. I asked about lifting and exercise restrictions I was told there are none. I cannot do my job properly or take the time off until this stupid thing comes out. I'm tempted to remove some saline because it feels over full. thankful my boss understands because she's gone through childbirth

Hi there, could I please ask how long it took for it to feel normal down there again? I had my gland removed on 13th September 16 and too was a day case but turned into an overnight stay due to severe pain. I had the doctor, nurses and Healthcare assistants in my room at the same time. Oral morphine, drip morphine, and some others. Never felt so bad. I went home 14th September that's when it went downhill, meds to strong made me really sick, antibiotics made me quesy, got constipated so was given meds to sort it, 6 Days worth was not fun. Luckily that's back to normal now. Few days later I was back in hospital as I had a very sore large hard lump since the surgery so doctor numbed the area and drained some bruised blood as my left bum cheek bruised so bad. I thought it would get back now but I was wrong he placed a small round plaster on the needle hole and was told to leave on for 12 hours, well I bled like I'd slit my wrist, blood everywhere running down my legs, you can imagine how scary that was, my poor husband had to help with plaster after plaster to try and stop the blood, luckily it stopped the next day and to my horror my bum cheek had re-bruisef and the lump was still then but bigger, this was the Sunday and om the Tuesday 2 weeks after surgery I managed to get into see the surgeon who confirmed that the lump in actual fact was a hematoma :( after she removed the gland I continued bleeding and it had gather in my tissue between my lady bit and bottom on the left. She could operate to removal the solid blood but the bruising on bottom proved that I bleed more than others and so if I had surgery I could end up with another hematoma which she doesn't want and ofcourse I don't want either so the only option was to leave it. Bearing in mind 2 weeks since surgery and I haven't been able to sit down or drive, lying down is not fun. I've been given meds to go up my bottom to help reduce swelling and inflammation, it is easing slowly and I'm just able to sit down 1st October. I still have a very funny feeling on the left flap and down the side, the only way I can describe it is like a numb burning sensation, would you know if this is normal and in time will settle or could it be like this always now?

I just had my bartholin cyst surgery 5 days ago and i still feel the pain at the surgery area, its not easy for me to do regular work like walking and standing for long time. I dont know how long this gonna end but according to my gynae it takes 2 3 days for the stitches to recover but i dont think so. I only wash with water and look at the mirror to clean that area but i didnt see like infections. I hope this will recover soon, i cant stay in bed n i really want to walk and sit like normal again.

Hi, I am 37 years old and have had bartholian abcess on and off since I turned 27. Recently, I had the worst one of my entire life. From experience I knew right away I was going to have to sitz bath and I also did warm/salt towels between my legs for 3-4 hours. which helped get the infection to the surface. Then 3 days later I lanced it myself and squeezed out all infection (Hopefully). In the meantime I did research and have decided on using supplements to help me. I also discovered there are women who actually have trichomoniasis which can make bartholian gland cyst /abcess worse. Also some are not abcesses but actually fibrous tissue that needs surgery/(there is no pus). Some can be caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae.Bartholin gland cysts and abscesses are common problems in females during their reproductive time. I also am now taking grapefruit seed extract, silica, and echinacea to combat any infection along with a garlic and cayenne supplemement. This is a huge ordeal and sucks when wanting to be intimate with your partner.

Hi. I had a very large Bartholins cysts (or that's what we thought) removed on the 9th December. The surgery ended up being a little more than the surgeon thought as the cyst was larger then they realised and went deeper than they thought. My immediate recovery from the anaesthetic was horrible and had to be kept in for a few hours longer then expected due to bleeding. I was told initially that I would need a week off work... This was unrealistic. I was off work for 3 weeks, 2 on medical leave then 1 due to the Christmas break. I was thankful for the extra week. On my return it was still difficult to sit at my desk for any length of time and my stamina was very low. I don't think I realised how much the surgery and recovery would take out of me. After my surgery I was sent off without really knowing what to expect and ended up with a large and very painful blood clot behind the stitches. Luckily as soon as this was removed the pain decreased. It's now about 6 weeks on, I still have continuous pain which gets worse after sitting or walking for any length of time and some localised mumbnes. I've just book an appointment with my GP to get it checked out as I'm still at a loss as to whether this is normal or not. As for the appearance of my labia this has changed significantly. Half of the inner labia on the side where the cyst was is now missing and I have an odd little 'nodule' at the entrance of my vagina I can only think that this is due to the skin being gathered together when stitched. I feel the same way to you that other than a little discomfort when sitti g the cyst didn't cause any issues and it was there for 3 years. Since the surgery I've had nothing but pain and the thought of ever having sex again terrifies me. But all that said I'm 44 years old and know that at my age there is a risk of cancer from this type of cyst so better to be rid of it. I refer back to my 'or that's what we thought' the cysts was sent of for analysis and it turns out it was actually a fibroid which is usually found in the womb. I thin it probably started as a cysts but after time developed into a fibroid as it was on the Bratholins gland. I hope your labia gets sorted ☺️ And please excuse my negativity I'm sure the pain will ease eventually.
