I had the same surgery Aug 2013. Had to go back to doctor 5 days later(Friday) due to pain. Felt like a pulling pain. Was told all looked good and may be a stitch to tight but it will get better. Sunday morning I was in so much pain my husband had to take me to the hospital were I had to have emergency surgery due to blood clots which had formed behind the stitches.

More than likely it's probably the stiches. I must say ever since I had my be removed I have had no problems. After the surgery I was in alot of pain and they put me on a korphine drip. The outpatient surgery turned into two day over night thing. But they keep the area covered in ice to keep swelling down and losts of sitz baths. It really worked out very well for me. I had an excellent doctor.

I've had the op three times now and had one self drain (still painful) my last op was 2 weeks ago where it was bigger then an orange (the worst pain if ever been in) now they are saying they want to cut out my bartholins glands that worries me I'm 24 and my first op was when I was 19 and I've had other two ops in the past year each time they leave thr "pouch" wider yay for feeling deformed down there. the worest part is getting trush after from the meds they gave me but no painkillers of which sucks. Bartholin cyst female version on having blue balls my only advise is there's alot of these new shrinkage creams out on the market aka like a virgin or 18 again DON'T USE THEM if you've had the op they will cause another cyst by swelling the pouch so it's no longer able to pass through fluid (however it's only temp it will self drain in around 48 by why would you want to go through that amount of time with the pain)

oh the joys of been a female I guess I'm just lucky

I was about 14 years old when I noticed a cyst on my labia minora. It was not painful at all. It was not very large either. In fact, I had it removed in 1991 when I was 23 years old. It grew just a little but still not painful. I was not irritated by the cyst that existed for over 9 years. An attempt to drain it was done when I was 18 years old. It was a painful procedure done in the ememrgency room. Could you believe that no local anesthesia was used on me. They inserted some type of small device in me to drain it. It was painful and I return back less than 24 hours to have it remove because I was very uncomfortable. During an annual pap exam at age 23 years old in 1991, my Gyn physician noticed I had a bartholin cyst an asked me was it painful and do I want to have it removed. I told her no it does not hurt. I asked do she recommend me to have it removed and she said yes. I forgot what her reasons were but she may have told me it can become infected. Taking her advice was the worse thing I could have done. I was not giving any choices at all. I heard from reading all of these postings someone mentioning, removing the gland is the last option, which is marsupialization. I underwent general anesthesia and was so groggy so I had to stay another day. I was in excruciating pain. I had difficulty urinating after surgery. The nurse palpated my bladder and could not feel a distended bladder. I weighed about 116 at the time which makes me a skinny person. Nurse called the doctor to order a striaght catherlization. My output was 1000cc's of urine. I had over a full bladder. I was relieved afterwards but still in alot of pain. As time went on, I could not do simple things very well such as, sitting, squatting, etc because of irritation. Also, having on underwear was very uncomfortable and irritating because of the friction or rubbing against clothing. After being discharged from the hospital, I decided to take a look down there and I noticed a disfigurement/deformity of my labia minora. What I mean by this is that part of it was missing or detached from where it usually is anatomically positioned (location). I was very upset and unaware that this surgery would turn out to leave things out of the ordinary. It's a shame that no one tell you what to expect from this procedure/surgery that is suppose to an outpatient procedure, go home the same day. No one tells you that they are going to remove part of your labia minora or detach it permanetly from its anatomical position (location). I am now in my 40's and it still bothers me till this day the damage this gyn Physician caused me. I was young at the time so I never new to ask questions. I was never ever in any type of pain although I discovered this bartholin cyst when I was 14 years old. My advice to someone who needs to have there cyst remove is to make sure you are given multiple choices on what you can do. I was never given a choice, they removed my bartholin gland. They never attempted to excise and drain the cyst I had. I did not have an abcess. Before you have anyone cutting you down there, find an experienced gynecologist that know their skill and have perform this procedure numerous times successfully. Next, ask them what are your options? Is it necessary to remove the entire gland and if so, will they keep your labia minora in its anatomical position. Removing the gland can pose a problem to decrease production of lubrication. Again, I was never informed of that either. I hope all this information helps someone. I was nice reading everyone's experiences with this procedure. Back then, I don't think internet existed or maybe in it's infancy.

SWEET JESUS that is horrible.. I have been dealing with this for 22 years, heres the deal,, I got them in my 20s when I was pregnant, never got them again .. Now here I am in in my 40s and pre menapause and I have had 4 since august and its only Nov.. I am so sick of it.. I just had one drained a week ago and the weirdest thing happened. I was looking at it after a shower and saw it looked like the incision was filled w pus so I pushed on it and it started to push something out so I reached down to grab it and I pulled slowly and I think it was the cyst wall that my body pushed through the incision . I have had it cut so many times the cyst wall finally came out now it is flat as a pancake no pain but a hole there..omg I am so over it I have no clue what this means for my sex life.. And doctors do not know what to tell me.. Just sick of it...

I had a marsulpalization done in 2005 and a year later the cyst came back. I just had the removal done three days ago and surprisingly the pain was not as extreme as the marsulpalization however, the swelling seems to be more pronounced this time. I've had over a dozen cysts and some drained on it's own and some needed assistance from the doctor. The cysts were always very painful. Thankfully, my gland has been removed so Hoping for a speedy recovery and a normal looking vagina.

Sorry to hear that they didn't help you out with the local anesthesia. The shots down there hurt like heck but I'm sure the cut hurt more without the anesthetics. Good thing is that the itchiness COULD mean that your wound is healing. Keep with the antibiotics but try to stay away from the pain meds as this tends to cause more harm than good especially to your stomach lining. Get well!

Ive been suffering with bartholian gland cysts for nearly nearly three years now and to remove the gland i was told by the surgeon that the cyst has to be big enough to see which gland is affected. Theres so many glands down there they cant tell otherwise! I had surgery four days ago to remove my gland and ive been told ill be unable to walk properly for the next two weeks. Im also very swollen as to remove the gland they go from the outside and open you up fully so clamps are used to hold everything back. I am very bruised and everytime i move its just pure agony! best decision i ever made though and hopefully this is the end of it for me. Wish everyone experiencing the same thing the best of luck you need to be brave for this operation!

I had my right bartholin gland removed.. I had a cyst for 6 yrs that never bothered me until all the sudden I got an infection.. My first experience was horrible in which they attempted a word cath.. Yea that will work if you don't need to move for 6 wks.. Then suffered from 3 more infections within a yr.. I was able to determine a infection be4 it was severe and would soak in epsom salt bathes and be put on several antibiotics.. Then I had to have my gland drained bc my duct had collapsed.. So the gland was removed.. It has been over a yr and I still swell and have pain around that time of the month.. They act like I'm crazy and its only me who has experienced this.. Yes you will at times experience dryness on that side.. You will need a water based lubricant from here on out.. An you will develop scar tissue in which isn't horrible but unfortunately you will never be 100% again..

Hello. Well I'm just looking for info because I went to the Gyn today and the Dr. Told my I had a cyst a size of a Navel ORANGE (almost the same size of a Tennis Ball) Now I'm scared , sadly my Dr. Said he's never seen one this big :( Not very professional if u ask me. Now I'm waiting to get a CT just to get the right measurement - and to proceed with treatment. But the weirdest thing is, it doesn't hurt me. I just thought I had hemmroids. For I did feel pain every other month but never thought it had to do with my vagiana! If u have any other info to help me out, Plse do tell me :)

I began having a knot on my labia in March 2015 after many trips to the gyno, almost weekly. The gyno numbed me and drained it by making an incision. This didnt not work by August i had had enough i went to a general surgeon he removed the cyst. However i had disolveable stitches and they opened up way too soon and never would heal. Now it's December and i had my second surgery today. This time with regular stitches. The doctor said this may be it or it could reoccur so who knows!
