It sounds like you have some serious heartburn. That's hard to imagine at 20 years old but I did have friend who had a real problem with it and she was 25. It sounds like what you have is GIRD which means gastrointestinal reflux disease. Your producing to much acid in the stomach and this is sloshing up and burning your esophagus. This is series as it can cause permanent damage besides the fact it hurts. Do you have trouble sleeping at night because of this? If you just had the occasion heartburn issue that would be one thing but its sounds like you have all the time. I'm surprised your doctor didn't give you a prescription for this. I suggest you talk with your doctor again and get that squared away as soon as possible.
