I had a cystocele & rectocele repair on 3/6/09 & my husband & I attempted to have sex 2x since then & it has been painful both times for both of us. He says he can feel the mesh through the vag wall (it's not protruding out). I am only 31, is there any hope of ever having a "normal" sex life? We would like to have another child at some point & I am utterly depressed.

Cystocele and rectocele repairs are major surgeries involving structures that are immediately adjacent to the uterus and vagina. Resuming sexual activity too soon, before the tissues can fully heal, can often result in pain. At this point, I would suggest that you use a dildo to determine what angle of penetration would give you the least pain and the most pleasure. And then you and your husband can work something out.
