I have had panic attacks for over 10 years now. But the past month it's getting worse....I have a weird feeling I get on my left side of my head and when I don't take my xanax my heart starts to race, my skin burns, and I panick. I think i am dying all the time. I keep myself doped up so I don't have to cope with it. Now I don't even want to leave the house. I used to be a very social person and now Im afraid of everything. I do have an appointment for the Cleveland Clinic for detox on friday. I am reaching out to professionals but I just dont understand what is going on with me. Im only 29 and everyday I am like this. Is anyone feeling like this or has? Am i going crazy?

Kimberly216,
Regular physical exercise can help reduce the frequency and intensity of your panic attacks. If you don't want to leave your house, you can buy an exercise bike and use it whenever you feel the attack coming. This will help bring your fight or flight response to full cycle. Massage therapy will also help you relax. You can also google a support group near you.

Kimberly, my heart really goes out to you. I suffer from GAD and I am all too familiar with panic attacks. The thing is, you have to confront them. They only get worse unless you get comfortable with the feeling of having them. They make you feel like you're going to die, like you're going to go crazy, but you're in no danger. YOu have to power through them. It is the hardest thing in the world, but I know you can do it. I did it, and I am what I would consider to be a rather weak person. Talk to moe about how you're doing. How are you feeling?

Thank you for your advice...I am willing to try anything. I am signing up for a yoga class and hopefully with exercise and medical advice I can pull through this. I am glad that I can finally talk about what is going on in my head and people understanding my concerns. Thanks!

No problem at all! Yoga will help you a lot and it will help you regain your focus and the best thing in the world for treating panic attacks is just living life as normal. Also when I said talk to Moe, I meant me. XD Let me know how yoga works for you, okay?
