Hi, I have a fibroid on my womb, and it has to be taken off. I must have a hysterectomy, but I still don’t know if it will be just partial or a total one. A doctor thinks that I don’t need a total hysterectomy, but I’m not shore. Any suggestions?

Hi, I had hysterectomy last year, because I was bleeding abnormally. I was loosing so much blood, that I became anemic. Unfortunately, orally-taken hormones didn’t help me, so I had a partial hysterectomy. A total one was not required, so I kept my ovaries. It’s important that you take a laxative before this surgery, because it will be difficult to have a bowel movement right after the operation. My hysterectomy was vaginal, because they only took my uterus out. If it was more complicated and if they had to take cervix too, they would probably do an abdominal hysterectomy. It takes more time, and the recovery is longer too. The best thing is to do is to listen to your doctor and do what he things is best. But if you’re not shore, ask some other doctor for the second opinion.
