My period is very weird! cramps hurt my tummy but I get it & it will come then go for day then come back %-) why? I try to count but its diff all the time, like sometimes it skipped 2 months, I hate dat! cuz it alway catch me off guard. I juss turned 13 a few days ago :-D I got my 1st one in February, so dats like 6months ago. But I don't get it every month, I did but before it skipped 2 before den came again. n like sometimes it will come for 4 days den go away, so I will think it done, then get it next day for two days %-) n it hurts a bit. n sometimes at night I leak :$ what do u do bout dat? but i rely hate never knowing when it comes. Hi Honey! I thought so! What happens is, once you start menstruating it's like a new job - I always equate things to a job! ;-) - So your period just starts, it's on a temporary basis, then you get part time, then evetunally full time! This is the same thing, your body just needs to know that eveyrthing is balanced out and your period knows what to do and when to come to the job, how long the hours are, and when to call it a day! It's basically your body learning to be a woman! IT's ALL about hormones settling down! This will sort out in a few more months! I always tell young girls to ALWAYS carry protection, even when your older and it has settled! Because as a teenager your hormones are all over the place and sometimes you can have a light period then others a REALLY heavy one! so be prepared! And welcome to being a woman! It's a pain in the you know where, BUT it's a right of passage - so to speak! So hang in there honey it WILL sort out soon enough! Good luck!

I'm not a fan of tampons for younger girls! As they CAN hurt and sometimes have been known to break your hymen! So IF a pad is working and there isn't any accidents - with corect changing - cntinue with the pads! IF the bleeding is far worse and you want to go swimming etc. Then give the "Teenage Tampons" a try! They are smaller, thinner, and less invasive - and this don't hurt! As long as your vagina is NOT dry! As this WILL become painful! It wILL sort out soon!

At the beginning of your period it will be heavier - and thus you being able to use a tampon with no problem! BUT when it gets to the end of your period and it is just spotting or VERY light, the tampon will be too absorbent for the amount of blood there is and thus cause rubbing!
the hymen is a piece of skin that is at the base of the vagina! IT is like a little gate, and it is used - in some cultures - to show that a girl is still a virgin! As the hymen tears when there is intercourse! Thus me saying that you have to be careful that you don't tear the hymen with a too large tampon!
It is your call when to use tampons, IF you can handle it with just pads fine, IF you need more then use a small tampon!

Thats when you are older and IF you decide to have sex! Some women feel slight pain, and other a bit more! Think of it as like the skin betweeen your fingers - but thinner - Would that skin hurt if you snipped it?! Same concept bUT less tissue and nerves then in your fingers!

Oh NO! Honey! I just wanted you to be aware, tampons say the exact same thing on their leaflets - about using too absorbent for the moment! The hymen is VERY thin, so each woman will feel this different! It is just more about avoiding the tearing with an appropriate size tampon, that is fitted correctly! It's ALL about learning what is right for your body!
