I recently had surgery for hammer toe. It was on the 2-5 toes. Two days after surg the linting the toe but it didnt pin in toe4 pulled out due to bandage coming off of foot. The dr tried splinting the toe but it didnt work. Now the toe is in worse shape than before surg. He apologized for us losing the toe but doesnt plan to redo it. A few days later i had an accident and I believe the pin in toe 3 broke inside my toe. He hasnt xray to check it. I asked what he plans to do when he pulls the pins out if the one is broken in my toe. He said nothing. He plans to leave the piece inside my toe. Is that standard practice? Should i request him to redo both toes surgically? Should i request the removal of the piece? I am not pleased with outcome and i do not know what to do. SOMEONE HELP!!
