Hmmm that is interesting as well, this happens to make, doesn't feel like liquid but i get a weird feeling sometimes when it happens to me. GF said this is located where my occipital bone is. It makes loud pops that could silence a room and other times barely notice it. 24 right now this has been happening since i was 16 i would say.

I'm 19 and have been having various popping sensations in my head.
Sometimes when I'm running or moving around, the right center of my head click/pops from the movement, I can both feel and hear it.
Just recently, I think I had a few pops in the front right of my head, but was not concerned as this popping thing has been going on for at least a couple years now.
Just tonight I was eating - totally calm, free of anxiety - and felt/heard popping on the left side of my head, more towards the OUTSIDE, like just under my skull or something. It popped continually for a minute like something was expanding or something.. I thought I was about to die and ran to the bathroom to beg for my life. Afterword my head felt odd, and like, pressurized. Normally there is nothing. just the popping. So this is new. I am still pretty terrified, but it is somewhat comforting to know that others have had the same thing and are still okay.
I have scoliosis, and have chronic muscle tension and occasional pain around my neck. Though when I last went to the doctor for it, I tried to tell them about the popping and got basically no reaction, just an extra Xray of my neck - no disc issues. I don't think they will generally pay much attention to a symptom when there is no pain involved..
So after finding mentions of aneurysms when searching google about it, this has at least helped me relax a little.
Wish a professional would come in and post their oppinion here.

My 4 year old daughter also suffers from this, she is attending the hosp but they haven't got a clue what it is. She has a popping feeling at the back of her head then starts screaming in pain for seconds but after that shes fine, its happening at least once a day some times it can happen about 5 times a day, its not just when shes running around like most 4 year olds it can happen when shes sitting watching tv but it has never happened in her sleep, it is really worring.

My daughter has been feeling this popping sensation for a while. There seems to be no pattern to it. We can go days without her mentioning it, have a run of them in one day or have one popping daily over a few days. It's only come up in the last 18 months.
She can feel the pop coming on and has described it as small lumps coming together and then blowing up. It's not always painful. If it is a very hard pop then its painful and sometimes she can feel confused. There is no liquid or cooling sensation after it and nothing happens to her tongue.
It can happen in any part of her head on both sides. Though I log the pops now, for future reference I'm going to log which side it happens on and if its painful.
It can happen when she's active or relaxing or just doing normal things. I'm worried but my daughter seems to just accept it as normal and doesn't let it stop her. I haven't been to the doctor with it yet as I didn't feel they would be very sympathetic about it.

My daughter, now 5, has had the same popping for about a year now. It is always and inch above and a bit behind her left ear. Most of the time it doesn't hurt, but sometimes she cries hysterically and says it feels like there if a fire in her head. We were so concerned that we went to her pediatrician. She did not act that concerned over it but as a mother, I pushed the issue. We had CT scans, both brain and skull, both turned out normal. We then took her for an ear pressure test--normal. I feel like none of this is normal and want an answer for why my little girl's head suddenly and without known reason hurts. If anyone finds out please post. I will do the same.

I don't know if this is related. I'm 25 and have had something similar but never any pain. When I lay down to sleep, when its quiet, I sometimes feel hear something... seems to be in the back of my neck or behind my ears or somewhere by there. It reminds me of one of those colored oil/water or gel desk ornaments that goes up and down like a see-saw with the liquid moving from one side to the other. It's like a popping noise but more like a bubble noise like tiny bubbles or something traveling from one spot to another... it is hard to describe. It seems to be going from my neck to the base of my head or ears, not the other way around ever. It sounds like liquid draining or something. Has anyone had this, heard of it, or anything? Is it something I should be concerned with? I've had it for many years.

I have been reading about some of the different problems with everyone on this website. My four yr. old is also complaining with her head popping. I've asked her pediatrician and he thinks it is mostly related to sinus and allergy. I have also asked my personal dr. and he said that the pressure in the sinuses can release and cause a popping sensation. I say to also check with someone in ear, nose, and throat. I did call a neurologist, five min. ago, and spoke with the nurse. He told me to check for TMJ. He said there is a joint in the head and the pressure can be building and this could be our problem. I pray this is it. He even told me to call back. (When in doubt grab the phone book and say a prayer.)
To check for TMJ: have them open mouth all the way. Put fingers into the divits above the thing that sticks up on the outer ear. Add pressure and have the person open and close the mouth. If it hurts for them to do this then it may be TMJ. This is the first thing I will do when I get her from school.
Also, to the one that hit his/her head. Make sure you do not have a concussion. They can be serious. Hope this helps. :-)

I'm a 22 year old female, currently in college, but also work part time as a waitress. I've been experiencing tightness of the joins in my fingers and toes for the last week or so, as well as headaches (I get headaches fairly often).
Three days ago I developed a sore throat, but didn't have a fever or any body aches. Two days ago when I was at work (around 10:30am) I felt a pop in the back right side of my head. Immediately after, I felt a tingling, numbing sensation that spread from the location of the popping to the rest of the back right side of my head, including my right ear. The tingling, numbing sensation lasted for a half hour or so. This was not at all painful, but it felt like something was leaking. I went to the bathroom to check if there was anything coming out of my ears, but there was nothing. I told myself if something else weird happens, I'll go to the doctor. Later on, my right ear and the area surrounding it felt warmer than usual. Throughout my shift, I was experiencing body aches in my lower back and legs.
When I got home from work, I was still bothered by what caused the popping so I went to an after hours clinic. My temperature was 99.1F. The nurse and the doctor had no concern for the head popping and told me I probably caught a virus that is causing my tightness of the joints, sore throat, and body aches. They were more concerned about that than the head popping! So when I got home from the doctor's, I was feeling more ill. I had one of the worst headaches ever, my sore throat got worse, and my body aches worsened as well. I went to bed and slept for a few hours. When I woke up, I felt feverish. Sure enough, I had a fever of 101.7F. I slept for most of the day yesterday, only getting up to use the bathroom and drink water.
Today I noticed white spots on my throat, which I'm pretty sure is related to strep throat. I have had a minor headache so far today, and my body aches are very minor too. The stiffness of the joints in my fingers and toes are gone.
My question is, is a weak immune system related to the head popping? I highly doubt the virus symptoms and head popping symptom being related to each other.

My boyfriend is 40 years old and just recently started having these popping sensations in his head they hurt so bad that it makes him dizzy and weak. He asked the doctors and they told him it had something to do with his jaw and he needed to see a dentist.

I am 38. as long as I can remember I have had the head popping in the back, gets really hot, pulls my tongue, pain pretty severe and lasts about 5 seconds. This would occur about 1-3 times a month. Went to the doctor as a child and they said it was a tic and I would grow out of it. I have grown out of it, for the most part. Every now and then I get a pop but maybe once every 7 months or so, sometimes go a year or so with nothing. I believe what I have/had and what some of you explain with very similar symptoms is called tic douloureux.
Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) or tic douloureux (also known as prosopalgia) is a neuropathic disorder of one or both of the facial trigeminal nerves. It causes episodes of intense pain in any or all of the following: the ear, eye, lips, nose, scalp, forehead, teeth or jaw on one side of the face.[1] It is estimated that 1 in 15,000 people suffer from trigeminal neuralgia, although the actual figure may be significantly higher due to frequent misdiagnosis. TN usually develops after the age of 50, more commonly in females, although there have been cases with patients being as young as three years of age.
My grandfather had it, I have it and my 10 year-old son has complained of the same symptoms.

I've also had this popping sensation also for as long as I can remember. It is felt at the base of my skull in the back, either on the left or right, but only happens at random times when I turn my head quickly to one side or the other. There is a definite "pop" that is felt (not heard so much though), followed by about 30 seconds of really intense, blinding pain. Then the pain fades, and all is ok. It's bizarre, because I can turn my head quickly from side to side as much as I want, but can't replicate this popping thing. It just happens completely at random, probably about once a month or so. I am 39, otherwise healthy. Have not seen a doctor about this -- and have never been diagnosed with anything major...

I have had this happen to me since I could remember. I'm 21 now and my mother has the same thing. I would feel a pop then a sharp pain in my head and neck, loss of feeling in my face, tongue numbness, and loss of speech. It usually last about 20 seconds or so, but it is excruciating pain. It happens to me about one a month. I think its a pinched nerve and triggered due to stress or when i move my head sharply. My Boyfriend is really worried about me because when it happens i sometimes fall to the ground and try to stay still until it passes. I hold my head and wait till i get the feeling back in my tongue to tell him its ok. But if anyone does know what this is, that would be great.
