WOW, this has always been the exact same thing for me. Whenever I throw something extremely hard, the back left of my head pops, usually I will drop to my knees for a few seconds until the strange feeling goes away.

omg, this has happened to me about 30 times in my life and always from throwing something hard. I throw with my right hand and it is my left side of upped read head that has a sharp piercing pain. It lasts for - 20-30 seconds and leaves you in pain and barley able to conceal your injury. I usually walk it off and am able to resume normal activity within 3 minutes. I do usually get a headache afterwards. I dont know what this is and it is scary when it happens, even more so the first few times it happened back in high school. I wonder if concussion or neck injury is part of the reason.

My five year old just did this. She was hanging upside down and then started screaming hysterically. When she finally calmed down and stopped crying she just repeated "my head popped" over and over and held a spot near the back of her head. It scared me to death.

Also check the condition "Neck Tongue syndrome" which I have from a bike accident. Caused by pressure on the nerves exiting the cervical vertebrae. It causes a metalic taste in my tongue ,a feeling of pressure and sometimes electric zaps. Can also be caused by Instability and over stretching of neck joints causing nerve pinching. A chiropractor helped me a lot to release tension in my shoulders and neck realeasing a lot of tension and pressure, after xray investigation and mri of course. The neck is very delicate, be safe.

I have a daughter, 9 years old who also has the same thing. A popping sensation, which startles her and she say it does hurt. It only lasts a moment and then she is fine. But it is very concerning because she does a lot of sports and at times she is temporarily shut down and or in pain and can't focus.
