I just found out that I am pregnant. I have had 4 miscarriages in the last 18 months, each between 5-9 weeks, and with my last prenancy, my progesterone levels were low, but by the time it was tested, I was already miscarrying. So I was prescribed 100mg tablets and am supposed to take them 2x a day inserted vaginally even though they are pills. Seems kind of strange..would rather take them orally, but if it helps to maintain my pregnancy, ok.

We've been trying to conceive for 3 years now, I've had one miscarriage and nothing since then. Now I'm 6 weeks pregnant! I was prescribed prometrium to help prevent another miscarriage. 100 mg twice daily. I was worried at first when I saw the label and it said not to take it during pregnancy. This board has helped tremendously. I've taken it three days now and I felt horrible in the mornings. I thought for sure I was gonna throw up any second. Never actually got sick. My doctor told me about benadryl helping with the nausea and, let me tell you, it has been a savior. I set my alarm to take it 30 minutes before I get out of bed and it worked this morning SO well!!! The only other symptoms I seem to have is a back ache and I'm very sleepy. Well I only have to take it for 6 more weeks and if this will give me the baby I've been trying so hard for, I'll take the side effects. I can be sick 6 more weeks if it means I get a healthy baby.

Don't be discouraged if you don't get pregnant after taking clomid - I tried clomid 5 times (unsuccessfully) before giving up. 1 month after stopping clomid - now I'm pregnant! Anything is possible.

I am 7 1/2 weeks pregnant and just picked up a prescription of Prometrium that my doctor prescribed to aid my chances of KEEPING my baby. If I don't take it, it's likely that I will miscarry. My doctor wouldn't prescribe this medicine if it would harm my child.

I am so glad I found this site. I had 3 consecutive miscarriages. Doctor put me on Prometrium and vitamin cocktail (b6, b12, folic acid aspirin) and I never got my period. My ovulation was all over the place. Decided to take myself off all the medication and I just found out I'm pregnant. Dr. told me to get back on the med. Not sure if I should try Prometrium again. After reading this site, maybe I should and hope that this pregnancy goes thru.

I have been taking prometrium orally for a couple of weeks now as a result of 2 consecutive mis carriages. I am 6 weeks pregnant and when I had my last mis the dr told me to get my blood taken for progesterone levels right away with my next positive test. I had the test and it came back low so he put me on 200 mg of prometrium each day - taken orally! I have seen on here where a lot of women are taking this med vaginally and other ways. Is it harmful to take it orally when you are already pregnant? This is making me very worried!

I was prescribed Prometrium today for previous miscarriage. I am on 100mg 3x daily orally. I trust that my Dr. wouldn't prescribe something that would hurt my baby.

Hi,

I am going through the IVF process and I am taking prometrium vaginally twice in a day to make my embryos stick into my uterus. I have tried IUI before and at that time also, my doc advised me to take the prometrium. Every time when I am taking the prometrium it builds some fungas in and around my vaginal area. Does anybody have experienced this problem? What is the soultion?

Hi,
I am 26 years old and by the age of 21 had lost an ovary and a half due to what they call P.C.O.S and have longed for a child, i recently got married and went to a doctor to find out what my chances where on having a baby and the first doctor told me i was in menopause not wanting to settle for that i went for a second opinion and found out my thyroid wasn't working once i started synthroid the doc retested my levels and found I WAS NOT IN MENOPAUSE and started fertility treatments of clomid for 6 days, prednisone for 6 days and prometrium for another 14 days i take these back to back and within 5 days of my last clomid i ovulated and have a good chance of being pregnant right now and when i spoke to my doctor he advised me to continue to take the prometrium and to begin testing for pregnancy on 8-29-09, If you don't like what your doc is telling you go for a second opinion BUT as you have seen on here alot of women pregnant or trying to become pregnant take this medication and have succesful pregnancy's.

Don't worry about having taken Prometrium! I am almost 10 weeks pregnant and have been taking this medication vaginally since I was 4 weeks pregnant. I have great doctors and they would not have prescribed anything that is harmful. Once I do hit that 10 weeks mark of pregnancy (which is actually this Thursday) the doc said to actually quit taking the prometruim, since my body will finally take over!
Again, I just want to reassure you that you did nothing wrong and don't worry :-)
Congrats to everyone on the babies!!

I'm glad other women on here have taken Prometrium and everything has worked out. I've had 2 miscarriages this year and am ready to have my first child. I am 4 weeks pregnant and am starting my first dose tonight. In my previous pregnancies I never experienced morning sickness so I somewhat welcome it.

I'm hoping prometrium is what I need to have a successful pregnancy. I was tested last week and my progesterone levels were low. Thanks ladies for the reassurance! It is much needed! :-)
