You might be pregnant. This sounds like a typical pregnancy. It depends wether you have had sexual intercourse recently it can be a baby growing behind the womb. I'm a midwife. So see this a lot. Recommend going to see the doctor. You can still have a period. It could just be a pulled stomach muscle. You will definitely have to have a vaginal examine if female or anul (bum) examine if male.

Hey Guys,
I had the same thing recently. It was on the left hand side lower side. I took anti-inflammatory and it went away in about 3 days! I was suffering for about 4 days limping around and getting bad sleep. If it persists see a doctor, it might be something else. But hopefully not! :-)

Hello all,

Well here is what happened to me. I exercise 6 days a week and one day i woke up with an upper left stomach pain. I kept exercising but the burning got worse so I stopped exercising and went to the doctor I was given 800 mg of ibuprofen and sent for a cat scan which i did. Now I have to wait a whole week for the results and see if there is any abdominal injury. I feel much better however, i do get the little muscle cramps when i sneeze and also when i exercise I cant do the bicycle. I can only handle the treadmill and the steps machine. Is this normal for recovering from a stomach strain?

Thank God. I thought something was wrong with me. I just woke up around 3 am and had a good stretch. Right when I stopped i felt a sharp pain behind my belly button. I figured I just pulled a muscle but I had to do some google-ing to be sure. Lol

I woke up and felt a sharp pain on the top left side of my abdominal muscle(no I dont know a lot about the human body but I did some research before I wrote this little post). It was really bad for a couple of minutes to the point that I just had to lay in bed, but it did get a little better. I figured as the day went on tit wouuld go away but it didn't. When I breathe in, the pain occurs. I can't help but feel this has something to do with me playing basketball with my friends two days before the injury. Prior to that, I haven't done any sports activity for almost 4 months due to college stuff and all that. btw I'm 19 and a freshman attending community college.
