Greetings and Salutations.

As my topic title states, I have questions regarding the condition known as Frenulum Breve.
After a few days of using the well known search engine "Google", I found many topics regarding this condition coming from this site, so I decided to register and create my own, in the hopes of getting my questions answered properly.

I am Male, obviously, currently 16 years of age, but soon to be 17 in the upcoming 3 Months, and I am not quite sure whether or not I have this condition or not. Rather than going straight to my Doctor, I was hoping I could skip that embarrassment and search for my answers online.

As one could most likely tell from my username, I was born in Sweden, but I currently live in the United States. I am un-circumcised and recently just started to, ahem, examine my Rifle, if you will. I was never able to pull back my foreskin in the past, seeing how the great feeling of pain that carried along with it limited my desire to even do so, and when you're little, playing with your un-loaded Rifle isn't the first thing you've got in mind. Up until recently, with some indirect help from the opposite sex, I decided to actually give the act of pulling back the foreskin a try. It didn't really hurt, it was just uncomfortable. I wasn't able to fully reveal the the glans the first tries, but after a couple of days of going at this, the head is finally over the hill and is proudly peeking over the wall :-)

This delivered much relief as my thoughts of possibly having the condition known as "Phimosis" were no longer there. However, I have this other issue now. My foreskin is tighter than it should be, but not so much so that it prevents the glans from being revealed, however the foreskin does seem to get red around the area where the outer part of the glans is when I try to retract it.
This, however, I believe can be solved with simple stretching exercise and is the least of my worries.

Now, to the main segment of my topic. Once I reach the part of the retraction process where the glans is halfway across being covered, the part that is called the frenulum starts to hurt a little, and the amount of pain increases the more I pull. After reading stories of frenulums ripping and what not, I decided not to pull any further. The frenulum is connected to the foreskin on one end, and to the glans on the other, just below the urinary opening. I always thought that the frenulum was under the glans, but either my thoughts are wrong or my Penis is wrong, so to speak. I am sorry for making such a long topic, but I just wanted to let it all out there. Not easy talking about it, so mind as well just release it all at once. Here are some questions I have.

1. Is my frenulum in the right place? Is it too close to the urinary opening, or is it normal for it to be there?
2. Should I try to keep pulling the foreskin back in the hopes of no injuries occurring?
3. Like the part where I thought I had Phimosis, could it be that the frenulum just isn't used to being stretched and needs a wake up call? Because I thought I'd never get my foreskin past the part I am at now. But in order to do so, will I have to go all the way?

Again, I apologize for the length of this topic. Too much for a guy to carry and not let it out, so I needed to get that weight off of my shoulders. Thank You very much for reading this far and I would be extremely grateful for any replies.

And also, if anyone else out there is having the same issues, I would appreciate it if you shared your story. Kind of like the "The More You Know" effect, we could learn from each other's experiences.

Thank You.

Hi Crazy Swede:

You sound highly intelligent and thoughtful and not crazy at all.

Based on your description, it sounds an though your frenulum is limiting the rearward movement of your foreskin. This means that your frenulum is too short. This condition is called frenulum breve.

You can try stretching it, which works well for some people or you can go to a urologist and have a small operation on the frenulum.
