I am hoping somebody here has some ideas as to what is going on. There are times when out of the blue my heart starts racing and I break out in a sweat and then later I get chilled easily. This is usually accompanied by an urge to have a bowel movement and sometimes frequent urination. I have been to the emergency room twice and had chest x-rays, bloodwork and ecg done. I have also had a 24 hour heart monitor on. Of all of these tests so far the only things found was low potassium and this was only found once. The rest of the time everything was normal other than my pulse was racing. It is scary when it happens and I try to keep from freaking out and making it worse. I am 42 years old. I have hypothyroidism and I take medication for that and I take diltiazem for high blood pressure. I am also taking 40mg of zocor for cholesterol. I also receive a low dose of intrathecal morphine and baclofen due to nerve damage from a broken back. I don't know if this is related but I have a lot of muscle pain in the chest and should areas. It is muscle pain and can bee aggrevated by moving my arm certain ways when I have the pain. sometimes it is on the outside of the chest muscle and sometimes right where it connects to the breast bone. I use muscle rub for this issue. Has anyone else had this issue or have any ideas what is causing it? The doctors can't seem to pin it down.

This happened to me last year and is happening again around the same time of the year. My herbalist said it is due to toxins (probably high pollen days).. He said they get into my system and then when it goes through the colon and reaches a certain section, I have those sweats, the heart palpitations and that urge to move my bowels. After I move my bowels, the feelings go away. He must be right because if I take an enema at night, I don't have that problem the next day. I have also decided to wear a mast when I go outdoors.

I see your post is almost a year old, so I don't know if this will help. My wife has the same symptoms, as well as heart palpitations. She's had an intrathecal baclofen pump for some time, and a few months ago they added morphine to the pump mix. Her doctor said it was the intrathecal morphine causing the rapid heart rate and palpitations. He prescribed extra toprol for the palpitations, and it seems to be helping some. I hope you've gotten some help by now though. Take care!
